That greatly depends on what you're expecting, and what kind of person you are.

In short, I think so, given:

-You're interested in building ships
-You're okay with a somewhat complex system
-You're not expecting a fully developed game right this instant.

Right now the game pretty much contains the ship buiilder, a procedurally generated Galaxy, and some basic flight and combat mechanics.

It doesn't have missions, mining, salavaging, and a lot of the other features that will eventually be here, but are still being worked on.

Provided you're interested in the game at this state, I'd say buy it right away, get in early, learn some basics and have fun creating. It was WELL worth my $10.

Also check this thread, it has a lot of good info thanks to Dakili, one of the best contributors I've seen here:

And one of the moderators. Right now the game is back at 20$ but it might, I say might, go back on sale. If it does buy it right away. If it doesn't come in sell during the summer but it after. It is worth.

its still 10 untill the 22nd. Watching videos it looks fun, the only resone I havent gotten it yet is it looks like you can build anything you want right off the start of the game makeing currency in the game usless. There just dosent seme to be anything to work for like leveling/getting currency/combat for loot/curency.

This looks like it has a lot of potential, once it's up to full speed as far as deployment goes. I do agree with Quickhand69er somewhat on one point, there should be some parts/modules/components etc. that can only be gained through some form of trade/raid/levelling/buying etc. If there's to be an "economy" involved then naturally some factions would naturally have more resources/cash than others, based on the type of system that they call home. The "alliance" system would then make more sense, in that if you ally yourself with a "rich" faction then you could reap the benefits of having more resources to work with, therefore allowing you to build bigger and better ships. There really should be some type of "risk/reward" system in place to give the player some goals to achieve, maybe even an "emperor of the galaxy" type goal? I can think of tons of scenarios that I think this game would handle in a most awesome fashion, implementing them is a different story and quite frankly, out of the scope of my talents. lol

It's not implemented yet. Right now you're in "creative" mode. The rest is already planned

Ah ok. I dont mind playing alpha's but I need something to work toward or i'll loose interest to fast. Back to Kenshi.

There is no way I could buy a game and not even try it out I dont care what it is.

You can already do things. Like build your own ships, fly them and test them against enemy ships.

It's an alpha. Later stages will have more features

Yeh i'll wait till you can gain exp or ship parts start costing money. Just building a ship and fighting just to be fighting gets old for me real fast if there is no reward.

One could also buy it now and then wait till full release. Would also look smart to me.

I mean, if you are honest, the game is barely playable atm. I am not saying it isnt fun, to play around with the editor or get blown to pieces in space, but atm, the list of features that will be implemented in future is a long yellow bvrick road to go till it is realy a good game.

As it is now, it is a promise.
I payed more for the game than it does cost now, and am just OK with that. because i know, this will be finished in future and then i will probably load a hundred or so hours into it.

In short: No its not worth.
"This game has a lot of potential" is all you can read from the supporters, over months.
But, if you are not new to gaming, you know they were many games out there with potential, that they never reach.
The shipbuilding thing is funny, yes, but for months (or you can say years) there where no updates for gameplay. After over an year after kickstartet, is has NO gameplay.
So, yes, maybe some time in a far far (very far) future this game will be good, maybe awesom. But i personly lost my hope in this.
If you watch the kickstartet vids, you can see things they are not until now implemented (1st person / better HUD etc).
And it seems like they are running out of money, cause the game is now on sale, and was on sale only a few weeks ago. Hmm so many sales let me think....
So, in my opinion, invest your money in other games. Sad that nobody sayed that to me, months ago.
Dakili Jul 12, 2013 @ 3:30am
I wonder why they would hire new developers if they were running out if money.

You don't see much that was implemented? Thus was told often. Because everything that was done was background work.

The whole game as been remade since the demo which took a lot of time. It's not be ause you don't see any progress that there wasn't any.
Arminius Jul 12, 2013 @ 3:38am
Have i wrote something on background work or no progress? I wrote about gameplay ("progress").

"The whole game as been remade since the demo which took a lot of time."
Sorry, but reworking a whole game which is in (pre) Alpha isnt a good sign of development. (My openion, but hmm iam no developer).

Looking at the comunity hub and release dates for patchs/fix's for the game has come pretty reguarly. It looks like its well on its way to heading in the right direction. Just not enoff content for me at the present time but eventualy im sure it will suck me into the Kenetic Void lol.
