Battle Lag
Hi all, i recently bought this game and i must say that it's great, taking into consideration that it's still in alpha.

Now i must say that the only real issue i have had is when i have a spaceship with about +30 guns, because when i start to fire it just drops my fps so much, even in the lowest setting. I have looked to see if there was any problem computer related as in ram consuption,etc... but it was all fine.

I would like to know if this is a problem you all have or is it just me?

This is a known issue lots of weapons do cause lag. It is not just you. But.. that is a lot of guns.

Graphic settings don't change anything at all. Each module have one physical collider, while weapons have two. If you use too much for your computer you will be bond to have low FPS.

Well the thing is that in game i have a big drop in FPS, while i check the consuption of almost every thing and some values had only risen a bit, so i actually think that the game has some leaks in performance, as i have even better hardware then the recommend in the steam store.

Usually the only game that lags my entire PC in a HOT summer day is BF3, and that's when there are explosive spam.

Except that these games are made differently than KV.

Bf3 since you gave it has an example, is hard for your graphic card, Or GPU. Call it how you want. The game needs a lot in that side and most game nowadays are mostly like that.

KV, on the other hand doesn't have a high need for graphics. They're mostly basic. But like I said, each module has one physical collider, and weapons two. Putting two much of those will result, at some point in a drop of frames.

I'm not saying it has no leaks. I'm just saying it uses way more calculations than most games/programs. And that's bond to your CPU.

Anyways in the next patch coming today there's supposed to be a performance upgrade. So people Should get even less lag

The other limitation is that the engine the developers are using for KV is not very optimized, which they can do little about. The patch today should help a lot though.

ok thanks guys for the quick replys. Oh and btw i have an i7 2,67 GHz so i guess that is why i can handle relatively well with about 20-25 guns :)

What class are you using that many on?

Destroyer, but i'm aiming torwards making an heavy fighter with about 20 guns :)

These are my recommended total weapon counts per class after 70 hours of testing and experimentation:

Light Fighter: 1
Fighter: 2
Heavy Fighter: 3
Frigate: 4-6
Destroyer: 6-8
Escort Cruiser: 10-12
Cruiser: 12-14
Battleship: 14-16
Capital: 16-18
Dreadnaught: 18-20

You're using far too many, and even though your system might handle 20 weapons on a destroyer it's a waste.

I am in no way trying to dispute this, but rather wondering why you recommend these specific weapon counts. What advantage do I lose using more or less weapons?
Dakili Jul 11, 2013 @ 12:07am
Right now: none. But later in weapons, especially bigger one, will have needs. Like power, ammo or crew. Putting too much will make the need for these higher.
