A lifelong Gamer's point of view.
You like Space sims? Then I suggest you checkout the Forum Topic about Kinetic Void here:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/227160/discussions/0/828934424075133545/

You don't like Forum Admins or Game Devs? Then don't post on the forum and don't communicate with the devs.

:D

I hail the Dev's for creating a space sim with such GREAT potential.
I however can not put the blame on them for any negitive business decisions or deadlines missed. Being an indie Game Dev (Actually any Game Dev) Is a hellish universe to experience. Every project has its ups and downs.

Forum Admins on the other hand...let's just say I understand the some of the gaming community (like the rest of the population) can be ignorant of certain things, and that can be frustrating for whoever is incharge of communicating with them.

But some of the things I've read on these forums (including topics that have been deleted), are quite disturbing. So much so that the conflict has become so intresting it has consumed my game playing time before work.

I look forward to the full release of Kinetic Void and will consider purchasing it, if and when it does.

I however don't feel secure supporting a working project that just feels roughly handled. (Even at it's current discounted price of 10$)

I wish the Devs smooth sailing in reaching the ultimate completion of their goal.

From what I gather (I'm a very recent newcomer to this game), the forum mods attempted to consolidate "should I buy this"-type threads into one location, as they were apparently inundated with them. Putting aside the debate of whether or not that was a good idea to begin with, it seems that it caused a considerable amount of ♥♥♥♥♥ing when the mods began enforcing that set-up and started locking threads on the subject. Seems like fairly typical forum drama, as opposed to something that would actually impact on the development process.
I'd say it's still worth investing in, particularly if you're interested in a less tongue-in-cheek and more sci-fi Kerbal Space Project kind of game.

I really did enjoy Duncan's (Yogcast) Let's play of the game, but the communication between everyone.... It's just.... I don't see the love, ya know?

I have been really turned off to the project because of it. I do however look forward to a second look if the game has a full release.

Only three threads were deleted. All were because of the topic no longer being about KV but a place were people raged without even having tried the game or wanted to talk about WarZ.
As soon as the Official thread was up there was no more deletions.

Quite honestly, you're likely to be turned off a lot of promising projects if you take that approach. The Starforge forum was a pretty horrible place to be for a while, as an example. Though to be fair, I guess you don't really have all that much to go on, given the game's very early state.

"I guess you don't really have all that much to go on, given the game's very early state."

And it's that simple. A shame really. Kenshi is handled pretty well, only 25% done but the Dev himself does all his outreach and is very clear in his goals and standards.

It's just what I read really bothered me.

That wasnt a comment on or about Kinetic Void's Dev, I don't know much about them. It was just the front face that I saw on these forums that put me off.

I would have been too in the same situation.

Pretty much my feelings exactly. I have become very wary of all these "early access" games currently flooding Steam. How many will actually reach completion? How many will be abandoned in a beta state? Seeing the reactions on the forums here has put me off of this purchase for now.

I've never seen these mods in other games' forums. Are you guys just here for KV? It seems like a bad idea to trust your company's PR to volunteers.

The reason WarZ comes up in discussion is because it was a smiliar situation at face value. An unknown developer comes in with an unfinished game but lots of promises and proceeds to delete any and all criticism in the Steam forum, and that game still hasn't delivered on most of the promises. It's pretty much universally regarded as a scam. I think due to issues like this a lot of potential buyers are exceedingly wary of overly moderated subforums for games in development.

We're only on this forum yes. Like it was said times and times, only 3 threads were deleted which had little impact on the actual talk of the game. It is still possible to critic the game as long as it made in a polite way.

Gotta agree if the Devs are not interacting then I am out too.

I am currently supporting about 6 games all in Alpha some beta and the communication has been outstanding. All of those Devs really appreciate us early backers as we believe in the vision and games they are trying to bring to market.

i could give you plenty of example where the Devs are posting and looking. Just look around for a green name tab.

I haven't seen a Dev as active has him on the game forums.
SSpongey 3. čvc. 2013 v 10.59 dop.
Maybe not on steam Dakili but there are other ways to follow Developers, Facebook, Twitter, blogs which I'm sure Kinetic Void does as well...but it is good to see an active Dev on the Steam Forums. And in regards to your (Very repetitive) notion that just because only 3 threads were deleted, that nothing important was in them, is a mute point. Even in currently open threads I've seen... certain people being very harsh towards potential customers, albeit because of the continuous issues and accusations that the Devs and Admins are receiving is making them less likely to be understanding of brand new Gamers browsing the forums or if maybe it is just the "unrealization" that most Steam users hardly ever browse past the first two pages of forum posts and Certain people are becoming annoyed having to repeat themselves to new posters.

What I have been reading, doesn't paint a good image for this company. I say this because the Steam forums are where Steam users go to find out information on potential purchases, not the company's website.

If they hit a wall at the forums, why go any further when there are 1000's of other potential purchases.

This is in every way "Constructive" criticism and I am in no way bashing anyone or anything.

And I said repetitive because you've mentioned the 3 thread thing in at least a dozen posts.

And yes this thread has everything to do with the game and the company that is making it. Constructive Criticism.

Evening everyone,

I bought this game when it was Very Very Early Release, and i have so far had 74 hours of play out of it, which for 15 quid is pretty good...

However, it si worth noting that the vast majority of those hours were spent in the shipyard (damn i am mad i missed the contest...) not in space. I bought in to the concept of th ephysics-based free-from space sim, but i have discovered that actually I don't want it quite THAT physics based...

Now whether this is a prevailing opinion and something the devs want to consider, i don't know, but playing the game currently I can't see it getting to a point where I can go out in a fighter with a single front mounted cannon and have a dogfight with a bunch of other ships. I think the game needs that, and if that means making up some sort of magic science system that lets you turn and roll and shoot off in another direction without having to slap the T key on first then so be it...

On the other hand, the shipyard is awesome, and the concept is still awesome - just please let me fly it like a spitfire!

Other thing i really want to see implemented before anything else would be station interiors/trade/actual game starting with a crappy one bit ship gameplay...

On a side note, it never helps to delete threads - make yourself a nice Spam topic and lock them up in there so everyone can see that people were being arses and deserved it...

Many thanks for all your hard work so far, i really do hope this game makes it out of the woods.

Cheers

WoM
