OS Specifics
I have seen a few people talking about operating systems and likely sales, community size, etc.

Just a bit of perspective for you all, here are the percentage break downs based on platform.

Linux Units 0.83% of total sales
Mac Units 2.68% of total sales
Windows Units 96.49% of total sales

As you can see if it wasnt for the fact that Unity3d makes it dead simple for us to build out to thoes two platforms it would not be worth it, in any way to develop for Mac and Linux.

This is also why most games do not have mac and linux support. These numbers are of course based on total sales so far.

Yes but that not represent reality : Linux user that play have often a dual boot with window BECAUSE most of game are not compatible Linux.

And that not because only two or three game are compatible that want say we can play on linux. So let time to see gamer using linux most ! :p

Steam determines unit sale platform based on most time played over a very long period fo time. So even if they bought it on Linux, they are playing it on PC.

Hey! I'm in that 0.83%!

I've never run with Windows and in the past its been Sony consoles for most gaming fixes. Sadly most games are still Windows only so the % changes is going to be painfully slow.

People might play game A (Windows only ) Game B (all platforms) then maybe game C (Windows only again). They are not going to reboot just to play game B under Linux in most cases. Its just not convenient and why download twice? Add that AAA titles on Linux are going to be rarer than an honest politician at first and I'll be happy once Linux gains parity with Mac games. If it then continues to grow then I'll start hoping that finally publisher acceptance is coming.

All I can do is continue to spend my $$$ when I can on games I want like this one.
