enemy encounters?
how are enemy encounters handled at this point? about how complete is the basic combat model?

there are a few mission type simplimented, id say combat is about 50% of the way there. we still have a lot of little systems to bring online.

one thing people love in these kinds of things is variety. this inludes campaigns, stand-alone scenarios, "horde" modes and sand-box combat generators. will the main play area of the game be an "open world/universe" or a linear setting?

The game is only "Open world" we dont do any kind of campaign system, and almost everything is prodecurally generated when you make a new galaxy, number of factions, how much territory they control, their relations to each other and diplomatic states.

nice. in games like this my favorite thing is to wander around and catch unaware's targets. will there be an "evil race" option where you can go around pirating, enslaving then selling your illicit booty?

The player is totally free to ally themself as they see fit, you can even stay neutral to all factions.

The player only controls a single ship however.
