weapons do no damage?
I got this game thinking it looked really good.
Once I got around the controls (which are very unique) I got into a dogfight with an enemy. There was a quest/mission from some ship to kill the emeny (red) ships. I shot the crap out of him for a good 5-10mins with not bad accuracy using mouse aim as the autofire was hardly shooting. Most shots hit as I could see the explosions. But after all that time the emeny ship still had 100% health. Then he touched me and I instantly respawned in the hanger.

Do weapons do damage or will that be added later?
If they do already do damage, will they be altered so you can actually do enough damage to kill an enemy ship?

Maybe I'm missing something but even with crappy guns you should at least be able to damage another ship.

You can damage ships but it does take an awfully long time iv realised ^^;

Or a LOT of guns. Like dozens and dozens. Also, make sure you a kinetic field generator (in fact, more is better.)

Weapons do damage, but not until they break through the ship's shields, which can take a very long time depending on the durability of the shields and how often you hit them. They recharge over time with the longer amount not damaging them, the more they regenerate.

Lots of balance tweaking is still to come. If you are fighting larger ships, make sure you are using larger weapons, size 1 and 2 weapons are ment for small craft, size 3+ will do noticable damage to a larger ship.

Cool, playing the game not in creator mode seems like its not really a viable option just yet. You start out with a small selection of guns and not enough money to buy many more.
This game has some mad potential. I might play for a bit more and chuck up a few suggestions and see what you guys think.

Well I came back to see what has changed since the last time I played... Now its the opposite. I fly out, find an enemy and fire off about 3 bursts before I die.

Quit finding enemies that are bigger than you! Here's a tip: The higher the number of triangles for their radar icon, the bigger the ship. If you are in a fighter/heavy fighter, that is a single triangle with either a black triangle in the middle (light fighter), a single triangle with nothing in it (fighter) or a single triangle with another outline of a triangle inside of it (heavy fighter). The video I'mi working on, I'm in an escort cruiser (3 sizes above a heavy fighter, depicted by 2 triangles, one with nothing in it, one with a solid smaller triangle in the middle). I can kill an enemy light fighter within a few seconds, but taking on a frigate, destroyer or another escort cruiser is a lot more challenging.

I am terrible at ship design, go strictly for function, but that gets the job done.

Ok I spose that makes sense however with nothing for miles anywhere what are you suppoed to do? I would just aimlessly fly around in empty space until an enemy showed up and then try shoot them.

Start by making at least 10 factions and only 12 sectors, this'll ensure that NPCs will spawn in nearly every sector. Also it takes about 30 seconds or so for NPCs to realize you're there and to spawn. Nextly, if you really want to test out combat, you can target friendly NPCs still, and then BAM! Lots of enemies especially if you had a lot of NPCs around you there "were" neutral. Also, try warping to different sectors, there are different factions in each one. Open the map (wooo it's new and beautiful!) by pressing M, then right click on a system you'd like to go to, then pick a sector within that system. Presto change-o, new sector to explore :)
