questions for the Devs
So there are not that many space adventure games that do very well and this is looking like it has more potential than others. I just have a few questions that were not really answered "in depth" in the FAQ before I commit to handing my money over.

Will players be able to create "factions" with each-other when it goes multiplayer?

Will these factions be able to control sectors or stations/planets? Also, will these controlled areas generate revenue for the faction?

Will we be able to pirate other player's ships?

Will you have certain modules more designed towards mining? Such as a literal mining laser to obtain more minerals and so forth?

How customizable are ships? Such as am I able to give it it's own pain job? Put some logo's on it? Make it whatever shape/size I desire?

I used to play EVE and I really enjoyed it for a bit. I joined in late and while playing in a corp was fun and all, the spaceship aspect was lame to me. Yah there were lots of ships but there was no real difference in looks. What i'm trying to say is that I really hope this game does well since it has a leg up on EVE IMO based on the sole fact you can customize your ship as well as its look.

Thanks so much for your questions :) I'll answer them in order (quoted, of course)

Once our game has fully launched, if multi-player is determined to be feasible, you'll be able to name your own group, which in turn could become a faction. All the faction ships are based on a group of user created ships (so those amazing ships with 300 guns on them you made and uploaded to the workshop? Watch out, it may end up in the game!).

Each Sector is controlled by a faction at this time. The only revenue you'd be focusing on would be your own, rather than how your allies and/or enemies are doing at this time.

You'll be able to pirate NPC ships, but not other players' ships at this time. If we do end up launching multi-player we'll look at how much allowances are made regarding affecting other players' games.

Yes, we'll have mining specific drones. Here's our concept art for one:

You can pick out up to 7 colors to paint across your ship, they are all associated with like-surfaces, so at this time you couldn't upload a logo. However with the mod system one of our team members is working on, that may be an option in the future. Shape and size is a huge arena of change you can make. Rotate individual pieces to your specification, turn on free rotation etc.

Take a look at our Workshop or Screenshots tabs to see what people have made, they are truly incredible.

If it's determined to just be single player what motivation could one expect aside from missions? I'm not asking about a fully fleshed out story here but aside from the "oh look theres an npc in trouble" or "oh crap im being attacked by someone" aspect what other missions could we look forward to? Any faction missions with an over arching story that are limited to those factions; for instance maybe theres a divide in a singular factiona nd you have to choose a side and do missions for them until that side becomes the faction leader?

Guess what im getting at is this:

Will this be a "minecraft-style" game pace? Where you're given a ship and some tools and off you go? Or is there some kind of possible loose plot or some "final boss" to work towards defeating?

I know it's early and there isn't much to be said but if there's any inclination of a "guideline story" that you could spare some details on that would be nice. Even if the details are "yes there is a specific goal that isn't player imagination" I would be significantly more inclined to buy the game. However, if at this time you can't say anything i fully understand.

Mission Framework is already getting an overhaul so that'll be different than how it is now, even with player involved missions possibly. I don't know all the details since we're technically off this week for the holidays and all of our guys are home with their families.

Okay. Then I guess ill be giving you my money. I'm just tired of straight, no "story" sandbox games is all such as Minecraft and EVE. They are fun for awhile and then boring and then fun and repeat.
