Quick-n-Dirty Ship Size Comparision - Featuring some ships you love, and some you dont!
Each row of ships pictures were taken at the same zoom level, then I zoomed out for the next row. I use the largest ship from the previous row as the starter for the row after. I didn't have a good ship (I got lazy) to fit in the second row between the Delta-class and theStar Dragon. So escalated quickly!

That last ship... i would not want to cross it's path...
Nice comparison, but how well does the larger ships perform? Whats their speed?
And could you truly play the game with the larger ones? I mean, you get enough fps so the game still playable?
My old dual-core processor just cried when i opened the image and saw those behemoths hehe =P

Can I snag this and upload it to the Artwork page on Steam? I'll share it out on the FAQ then too :) Apr 24, 2014 @ 6:03am
Go ahead Kaypix.

Dic, I have no clue as to hits current speed with the D11 patch; i built it a few patches ago and two versions of it as well - one with no interior engines and one with interior engines. At the time I built it, it had max speeds with KF on, of ~500 and ~respectively. Since engines don't always update correctly to patch D11 (older engines full of the engine subsystems keep their multiple engines; it would most likely be much faster in D11 then it has any right to be.) If you check my profile->workshop items you'll be able to find the ship there and I think I listed some stats for it.

As to FPS, I recently upgraded my system, but with a 9600GT the version with the lower engine count was playable *until I fired my weapons or lost my shields. The version with the higher engine count....sluggish at best.

Aether some of the older ships are keeping their multiple engines subystems? They should be allowed to keep their busters but not the engines. Thanks for the heads up I'll have to go check it out. And sadly due to the physics engine that unity uses right now our game is more CPU intensive then it needs to be. Hopefully their new physics engine in the new version will off load some of that work to your guy's GPU so that we can get a nice performance boost. Apr 24, 2014 @ 7:01am
Well, I upgraded to a GTX660TI 2GB about two weeks ago, that made a big difference.
