Looking for a good space simulator/sandbox. Does kinetic void fit?
I have been looking around for a good game that could possibly entertain the idea of being thrown into a vast world and leaving many possibilities to the player. Those possibilities could include piracy, mining, merchanting and even colony building.

I looked at X-rebirth and read the reviews there and steadily moved away, and i stumbled across kinetic void awhile back and have been a bit.. skepticle due to a lot of reviews saying its good, but not really worth the purchase YET.

So i ask those who have it, should i get it for its current price or should i wait; or perhaps even stay away entirely?

I've been reading early access horror stories lately myself. Considering those stories, I can say that I feel very lucky to have come accross Kinetic Void in steams early access area. The developers are active and patching the game regularly. This is a game that is in its alpha stage so not everything is implemented yet.

I paid for early access quite a while ago and I have seen decent progress. Seems to me these people are serious about making this happen.

I hope that keeps up true to form then, because then i will pick it up later this week or next week when i get the cash. I truly am interested and if the developers are putting in a significant amount of effort, i have faith i will enjoy this considerably.

Something I did before I bought was I monitored the community discussions. Mainly I watched for how the developers handled questions and suggestions about the game. They've been professional in their responses.

Morning guys! Yes, we tend to lurk around the forums off and on each day ;) Although we are still in development (we don't use the term alpha or beta) we patch once a month on the first Monday, then again the following week with any fixes from that week's patch. We're on D11 now, D12's on its way for May and should include missions, added AI, shipyard features update and more. Ask any questions you have, i'll be more than happy to answer them :)

Well, than i would love to ask you this Kaypix, in your words; what would you say makes Kinetic Void stand out the most? Which one feature would you say gives you pride about the game?

Also, aside from building ships, is there any mining or pirating per se?

The game is great and I enjoy it, but be aware that the only functioning features of the game are the ship builder, combat, mining, and travel. At the moment, building and then testing your creation in space is really the only thing you can do. I know the devs are planning to add a huge amount of features, so don't get scared away by the game's incomplete state.

What Silent Racket said, also:
Right now you can:
- Build your very own/unique ship, lots of parts and systems already. You get creative, you stay hours building ships. hehe
- Take your ship to explore sectors generated procedurally.
- The weapons works, and there is some random factions in space. Create chaos and go to war if you wish.
- Use drones for mining asteroids or fighting drones to wreak havoc on enemies.

So, if you're looking for a full/complete game where you can do lots of stuff right now, it may frustrate you if you buy right now.

But if you buy it to support the devs (they sure need the $ to keep going, the game industry is a hard job) and get the early access to this already amazing game, having in mind that it still in it's first steps, yeah it's well worth the money they're asking, and i'm pretty sure you'll get some real fun out of it.
Posted it on another "Should I Buy it" post, and felt like it would help here too. =]

I can't complain. The crafting system for ship building is excellent and even in it's current state, it is more of a complete game and a fun experience too have over many games that are Early Access. I have already spent 27 hours in game and that alone was just on ship building, and I haven't really even scratched the surface yet as too what else this game has too offer. It truly is a huge game with a very impressive scale on crafting and exploring. At the minute, I do not regret buying this game.
