This week in Kinetic Void (April 21 - April 28, 2014)
Happy Tuesday everybody! This week the guys are working on developments for D12 (that's right, next month's patch is well under way!)

I'm cleaning up my D11 video, or possibly re-recording it, I haven't decided which, and am getting ready to put my debugging hat on for updates for the newest patch.

The team is working on shipyard UI as well as module placement in the shipyard, applying persistent damage to the ships and creating missions, tweaking the various system stats and a bunch of little things here and there.

Of course I'll be posting updates and videos as we go, per usual in this thread, and answering any questions you guys may have.

Until next time,

Happy Gaming!

Are you possibly entertaining the idea of implimenting Multiplayer by chance? I'd like to introduce one of the Dev team to my Star Destroyer :) :P.

Would be an awesome community event, Dev's Vs Community in multiplayer mayhem :).

I'm sure that many of us will be keeping a keen watch on the ship yard. I don't know about anyone elses feelings, but for me, building a nice, new ship is one of the games highlights. I'm on the virge of giving up on attempting too find out what the largest ship I can build is lol, it seems like an insurmountable task.

Thanks for your question Cadderley. Right now we're focusing on single player aspects of the game. Once the game has fully launched we will look at the practical aspects of implementing or making available a multi-player option.

I'm excited for the May patch!

Can you elaborate on the creating missions part?

Even if it's like a really basic overview. :)

As for multiplayer, I would like to see the single player aspects of the game be more fleshed out. You could then create multiplayer in the form of a PVP server that would pretty much be coded from scratch, and reuse or update the files and code as you go. It would be like designing a second game.

As an end game goal, it would be quite a thing too see implimented with the variety of ships available and the community mucking in together having a bit of fun together in deep space :).

You know your going too get challenged at some point too deep space piracy if you do :P :)

You'll just be cruising around enjoying the scenery one minute, next thing you know, you'll get a size 5 battle ship right up the jacksey.

Alive:

We're creating missions using the Editor that Rick gave us, then once we have ours up and running, we'll hopefully be able to include the editor with the update next month as well :) It's a little complex but it's really cool what it allows you to do.

I for one think single-player procedurally generated content (galaxies, enemies, missions, factions...) is way cooler than Multiplayer and consequentially PvP.

Multiplayer for sure would be nice, but for this game, i think that it should not be a priority too at this early point.

Multiplayer games tend to be frustrating when you want to have pure fun, there is always a player with something way more powerfull than you wishing only to kill you for no reason at all, just for the "fun" of it...
It's so frustrating: enter the game, see tutorials, get excited, build your ship, go to space... Boom, you're dead. "TheKillerBoyZ4172 killed you."

But if we are talking Co-op, then i agree is way more appealing. Why gang against players when you can gang against that evil Pirate Union that just want chaos on the skies?! Or: Why not get your friends and make an Tyrant Empire, rulling all over the galaxy with powerfull lasers?!

It all would be possible if you could run your private little server (much like Minecraft, for example) and call your friends to have fun, be it Coop PvE or PvP.

Anyway, just my opinion, and netcode is sure something really tricky to mess with, given the game is still in it's early steps, the wiser decision is the one Kaypix said they've already choosen.

Kaypix what was in today's patch? Admittedly glanced around briefly but nothing popped to my eye immediately. I'll keep looking ... nah, I lied, starting game :)

i wonder what the singleplayer will be, once it's further developed. hope there's enough to do for hundreds of hours, besides building ships ^^

Curt, we didn't release a patch yesterday, I just post what we are working on for the week. We patch the first Monday of the month and then again the following week with bug fixes. The latest patch added animated weapons, New weapon models, warp gates for travel and performance tweaks. You can view all the patch notes in the announcement page :)

For the monthly patches do you aim to release them toward the beginning of the month or the end?

Curt like Kaypix said we didn't push a patch but we did push a hotfix out for a bug that we were able to correct. The bug was some users were reporting extreme lag when they were warping this hotfix should correct that isus.
