Game Comparison?
I'm a long time Eve player and before that I was a massive fan of Tradewars 2002[en.wikipedia.org] for many years. I've also dabbled in a number of space-themed games beyond these titles. I'd be interested in knowing where this game fits in comparison to other space related games and where Kinetic Void is on there development timeline. How close to beta is this game? How long has it been in Alpha? Has there been much progress or headway with developing features beyond the ship building aspects of the game?

This game is nothing like Eve, and there is currently no 4X type gameplay. I dont even think they are heading that way with the game.
It seems its very much focused on ship building inside a shipyard with very simple mission mechanics for credits and unlocking progression while in space.

I asked a while ago for simple mechanics to set trade convoys and patrolls using your built ships, which could be attacked and defended. It was quickly shot down by the community saying the developers where not making that sort of game and they had no interest in the idea.

If you want somthing like Eve you should try X3: AP if you have not already. Pretty much a single player Eve.

Why do you bother posting if you clearly have no interest in actually being of any use?
I want to punch you in the face.

While I'm not in a position to compare our game to other space sims, I can tell you about our development as we move forward with Kinetic Void. We do not use the "Alpha" / "Beta" terminology for our game. Rather, we simply use "In Development" or "Released". We are still In Development at this time. We have been working on Kinetic Void since 2012, with our team growing from 2 to 5 people in October 2013. We do have other aspects of the game in place at this time, such as using drones for mining and combat, as well as faction simulation and are working on setting up missions to be completed. For an indepth look at what we've done so far, you may take a look either at the State of the Game thread, or our Announcements Page. I do also upload video each patch showing how gameplay changed that patch.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Also, play nice with eachother, we value every one of our customers as well as potential customers and request that everyone treat eachother with respect on our forums.

Ok thanks, I'll look into this. I like the creativity this game is showing and I a'm hovering over the buy button as I write this, will possibly pick it up tonight after much more deliberation. I am a huge advocate for indie game development and I applaud Steam for introducing the Greenlight projects, however I find that a number of space simulators fall short of my goals in what I'm searching for in a space sim, often times, certain features are present in one title and missing in others.

Ship building is great and for that alone I would purchase this title if done effectively, but can you walk your ship when it's built? Can you virtually sell your design? Can you invite others to do the same?

Once you build your ship you can share it through the workshop. If you mean can you walk around inside your ship, then the answer is no. There are other games that focus on ship interior, we are focusing on the exterior and galaxy creation.

U can fly and fight with your ship, but you cannot sell the whole ship as it is, the ship building is with ship parts that you combine them to make your ship they come in 5 sizes witch bigger sizes have more mass and capacity for subsystems and they cost lot more credits than the small ones. in order to virtually sell your ship u can just remove the parts from your ship and sell them to the station, so in other words yes you can virtually sell your ship and buy a new one, but you have to know that u buy the parts for it not a complete ship.

I myself played Eve a long time ago. I've been looking for a Eve like SP game for ever. I got this exactly because I was hoping it would be like Eve when it was finished. When I got it there was not much in-game and nothing that could possibly be judged to determine if this was like Eve.

Although I still have a fuzzy idea of what it is this game is trying to be, it does look promising and might be worth the gamble. It was too me.

If you do purchase I hope you enjoy this game. It's getting better and I do look forward to seeing what happens with it.

I too played EVE and KV here seems to be headed in an interesting direction. I just messed with D10 and things are looking very nice. Stick with creative mode for fun for now. Sure couldn't build ships like this in Eve, nor in similar games like this on Steam.
