Weapon systems
I like to make ships with lots of big guns, and then go and seek out enemy ai to test me creations against, however, it considerably frequently occurs that in the midst of battle the weapon systems on my ship will pack up and refuse to reactivate, it's very frustrating, i've tried messing around with the weapon groups and hot keys, and using already existing ships within the game incase i was just building them wrong, but the same problem persists, i end up just mashing the 1 key until either i die or my weapons come back online, can anyone help me?

All weapons have an effective range and degrees of targeting if the weapons get out of their degrees of targeting they will stop firing, if you are in carrer mode though make sure you also have enough munitions to supply your weapons as different weapons use different amounts of amunition at a time. ships that are for broadsiding tend to have a worse time keeping the weapons in the same window of opportunity at the same time. Forward facing is much easier to handle as long as you have good manuvering.

Also, make sure if you have guns on either side to separate them into different weapon groups. If you have multiple angles set to the same weapons group, then on occasion when a target leaves one of the gun's firing arcs it can cause the whole system to reset and re-target the locked-on enemy. Its why front-positioning all your guns has an easier time of it. I'll admit its a little annoying, but it could be worse.
