How to maximize gold income ?!
Hello

My empire is growing and the resource balance is ok. I have tons of wood and food.. and enough gold to upgrade or build new camps/towns/bridges.. and I have enough gold for some new units in an emergency.

Yesterday I had to learn very hard after aggressive expansion how to wisely use my gold income .. including continual optimization of towns/camps.. removing not needed buildings/upgrades.. limit combat units to a working minimum.. using slaves/hostages.. and so on.

This allow me to expand my empire furthermore.

But I have a problem with unit upgrades (officers & generals). In the beginning it's somehow cheap. I have 12 combat units which I want upgrade if possible.. plus a few cavallery/scouts. I could upgrade some officers to level 2.. but level 3 is way to expensive for me.. to say nothing of generals.

How to get enough gold to upgrade the units? Is 4 level-3-officers per unit to much? Should I limit this to maybe 2 officers per unit? Or are 12 units to much to fully upgrade?

I thought units upgrade from experience points, not gold... My very first legion squad is a level 3 Centurion, level 2 Engineer, level 2 Standard Bearer, and level 2 Hunter... it still costs 90 gold, I'm pretty sure...

Hm.. could I am that blind? Need to check that immediately. ^^

Edit: OMG.. I just took a fast look at it and it looked like 2500 or 4000 Gold. LoL. I am so sorry for this thread!

You can also set towns to focus on income/recruits/defence/supply. The button looks similar too the formation button for units. I thinks its +50 income at the expense of supply consumption.
