Look for games for my 3/yo. How is this one?
Looking to by more game for my son (3 and a half years old).

What is your take on this game? Does it seem child friendly? Too violent/graphic/bloody?

He currently has:
ItzaZoo
ItzaBitza
Spore
Minecraft

Usualy I play with him in my lap telling me what to do.

It seems to be that this game was made and intended for children. I haven't played it myself but from everything I've seen and read of it, it's a choose your own adventure game that has nothing graphic about it. Should be a good opportunity to get your little one reading.

I gotta say, this strikes me as a pretty good game for kids, but I will also say the only play through I've done so far was one where I did everything the nice way. There are a few 'fight them/eat the baby!' options you can choose, but I can't see them having really detailed or upsetting outcomes.

Some of them you might not like - you can beat up other monsters, for example, and you can get an ending killing off all humans ... That being said, the beating up monsters isn't graphic or anything, and it's all reading so if you're reading to him then you could just opt to leave bits out.

Good examples from playing recently:

You can kill a deer and split it with another monster for dinner.

You can kill a snake that's eating baby monsters and eat it for dinner (and share it with the morsels - aka baby monsters).

You can beat up other monsters in competitions or to teach them a lesson for doing bad things to you.

There is a scene where one monster is stabbed (well, WAS stabbed) and you can remove the knife to help him.

None of these are GRAPHIC, mind you - no descriptions or depictions of the blood, etc, just the fact that you do in fact kill and eat things in the playthrough, and also that being rough and tumble / encouraged to beat things up sometimes (since you are a monster!) is present. It depends on the sorts of things that you don't mind your child seeing.

I wouldn't say it's any worse than the zombies / skeletons in MC though, honestly. It's DEFINITELY no worse than say ... classic fairy tales - IE, the wolf eating the grandmother in Little Red Riding Hood. There's no gruesome depictions, just general violent actions available at times like I listed above.

I think one of the most important things is that it's almost completely text driven. It's more or less an illustrated Choose Your Own Adventure story.

I don't think the content is too bad for kids, but if they're not able to read they won't be able to play it at all.

I mainly made this to find out about Monster Love You, but guess I am now making a list of games to get for him when they go on sale. :-P

Limbo scared my 5 year old half to death when the Giant Spider stabs at the main character. He still shudders when we talk about that game. I would not recommend it for young kids.

I think this game could be a good opportunity to show that actions have consequences - good and bad. I don't have children but I'd be interested in seeing how a child makes decisions when playing. Enjoy!
