Returning to the Vat
So... the acheivement you get for it says you're "paying it forward" and "future generations will be improved" but apparently not. Is this a bug? Or does the flavor text just flat out lie to you. T_T

Yanno, when we did this, the thought was that would just be part of the story, rather than a game mechanics thing. But what you say about it changing what future monsters start with makes sense, too. What does everyone think?

I thought it meant I would at least start with a small stat boost next time I played. Maybe dissolving could influence your stat growth or possibly even the adventures you get offered at each developmental stage?

Same, I thought any monster made after would have +1 in that stat. or something along those lines
Kcinic 19. mars 2013 kl. 21.58
Wow only a +1? I was thinking like +15 or so but I might be crazy. It isn't a huge deal, it just really entertains me when flavor text / background info matches up with gameplay.

For some reason when I got to that point, I thought it was a really clever tie-in to the thoughts/actions dichotomy and choice in dreams, in which what you're really choosing is what sort of monster dissolved before your newest monster was born. That said, I like this idea of paying it forward via your previous monsters' actions a whole lot and wouldn't be at all displeased to see it implemented.

Honestly I thought it would provide a small stat boost too; some sort of reward for continuing to explore all the options, or maybe just a little hint of the past. Something like that, particularly if you keep replaying to try and discover everything.

I thought this was what would happen also. So that all the lives of the mosters would be linked. Kind of bummed this is not the case.

Yup, same here, thought it would affect future gameplays (a la NewGame+)

I thought it was just interesting fluff text for the ending but after reading the thoughts here I also like the idea of it giving some sort of boost to the stats of your next monster
DuckiDeva 22. mars 2013 kl. 21.26
I too thought it added some sort of something to the next monster created, but I wasn't super bummed when it didn't.

I was pretty disappointed when I saw that it didn't affect my following playthroughs!
Fizban Frobozz 13. juni 2013 kl. 17.36
Definitely should effect future generations. Would also add more replayability as we try to build a "super vat."
punk1n 14. juni 2013 kl. 1.40
So it doesn't give anything?
nevik92 14. juni 2013 kl. 5.12
Well, a stat boost would only make sense if you create a new monster after you dissolved (in the same timeline). But when you create a new monster you start kind of in another timeline, nothing you did earlier affects your new playthrough. All monsters that have already died (or grow at least out auf the childhood) are young again because the event of creating a new monster happens in another timeline. In my opinion creating a new monster with stat boost makes sense if there are lot of other events and monsters which weren't there before.

I too was expecting some kind of small boost for my next monster. I'd actually prefer that is was % based rather than a flat rate. Say 10% for example, getting Dissolve into Honesty with a 100 Honesty monster gives a 10 Honesty boost at the start. However, getting the same ending with a 50 Honesty only would give a 5 Honesty boost.
