I have played both of them extensivly and I can tell you this, DON'T waste your money on Infestation. I played it first and fell in love with the concept, so much so, that I was able to see past the bull crap (and believe me there is alot of it). Then I decided to play DayZ and it turns out it's everything that I wanted Infestation to be. Needless to say I havn't played Infestation since, and i havn't looked back..... not even once.

DayZ 1.8, DayZ origins, DayZ Epoch, or Day Z Overwatch. no comparison to War Z.
Also played both extensivly and the gameplay on the 5,600 dayz varied servers beats the 35 servers of warZ hands down. As does the dayZ community.

My opinions on DayZ are admitedly a bit dated by now. It has been several months since I played it for any amount of time (apart from about an hour spent in it a few weeks back, which did nothing to change my opinion).

But my opinion is that DayZ has more promise, it is built on a realism simulation, and focuses on survival to a greater (though still not deep) degree than ISS. Sadly it was just not very well executed. Very nearly every single complaint people have about ISS is found in the DayZ Mod but is found to be more aggregious there (More and worse hacking, more and worse bugs, rampant glitching and dupeing of items, greater opportunity for and presence of server mod abuse, and a simply horrible inventory system). There are a lot of excuses for why this is (some of which are fairly valid), but excuses don't negate that the issues are there.

If you fix the issues present in DayZ then it would be a nearly all around superior game to ISS. But that is not the reality that I experienced. Because of that I have to say that ISS is the better (or simply more playable) game, despite the fact that it is the "lesser" game in many instances (I hope that distinction makes sense).

Nope, I wanted to remove the quote from the comment above so as not to confuse if I was talking to that poster or the original. Bumping didn't come to mind, but it does now with this post so thanks.
