infestation not working !!!

before i had a laptop i used it to play infestation on it and the game was lagging because the RAM was low , so i bought a new one , and i downloaded infestation , but when i clicked on the game to play it, a small window appeared then disappeared fast and the game still not working , i tried over and over to play the game, i deleted steam then download it again , but the game wont work , what should i do to make the game work again ?

my old laptop was windows 7 , my new one is windows 8 , does infstation work on windows 8 ?

ya it does my windows 8 plays at 80 fps 8gb laptop

yes it works on windows 8.

but you say new laptop. is it a newly installed windows 8? because that may be an easy fix.

there may be a missing microsoft .dll (MSCVR.dll I think) or you might have the wrong version of some microsoft runtime which the game needs to run.
happened to me with a fresh install of 7, and a whole lot of other people with 7 and 8. I don't know if they bundle the required files with the game as a redistributable like they ought to, but check that first.
the devs hadn't got a clue what was wrong the first time round. the community told them what file was missing and how to fix it.

and you wonder why the developers of this game are so idle/lazy/incompetent that this issue has been known about since november last year, and they still haven't included the redist files in the game like every other reputable developer does.
