My OPINION on Infestation (War Z)
to be honest it's an ok game, combat is still wonky but everything you see in the store can be found and even looted multiple times in 1 area plus more. i can see why most people don't like it because they can't find ♥♥♥♥ or they expect to respawn with there loot, the online community is also pretty bad and not to be trusted (everyone is a shoot on sight). This game focuses more on surviving and searching for items than hitting zombies with a flashlight. the game is also badly optimized but even on high the game won't be stunning, you might as well run it on low. These type of games can't be judged after playing a good 2 or 3 hours, you have to play for an extended period of time, you might find a weapon and end up dying with it, but you might kill other people and loot them, it's all part of survival and you can't expect people to just let you go. in the end this game is a good 6/10 (as in a bit average, not the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ score of 7 is gud and anything bellow is ♥♥♥♥) and of course play with friends to get a better experience or get someone who played this game before and teach you the ropes. and don't hate on a game because PC Gamer/ Total biscuit hated on this game, especially from tb since he only plays games for a solid 3 hours then stops them all together.

very fair review

re: online community

just join one of the many free private pve servers and you dont have to worry about other people

re: totalbiscuit

i love to watch him he is entertaining, but other than that is just one persons opinion

re: number of melee hits to zombies

man that does suck a bit. its like too many. you sort of get used to it. its a problem when there are a group of them since its hard to keep hitting them all back. eventually their hits get through and you get hurt all too quickly and die. so dont get cornered and dont take on a crowd of them.

re: graphics

i actually like the graphics. i run it 1920x1200 maxed out and it looks great. especially the lighting. the level of detail is ok, would be nice if they released a hires dlc, but that would bring people's framerate to a crawl. the thing is the engine renders the whole thing. just look into the distance. its one giant single map. not like in other games that steam large levels. so its a balancing act with them they improve folliage and people with low level graphic all have their framerate drop, the same for any other change.

re: 6/10

i would give it a little higher, but that is just me. if i had bought it 6 months ago i would have given it lower.

I can agree with people liking TB but, like other fanbases, there are people who will live by his word

Not everyone who plays is "Shoot on sight" as you say. shooting another player is a choice you make, you could just as easely let the player go if your not noticed. Now that theres a way to tell whos good apart from bad, theres really no excuse for just blasting away at whomever you see.

It takes 1-2 headshots with a Katana to kill a zombie.

yea but most people start off with a flashlight and rarely find any items or a katana

u can find a lot of loot including katanas in the trailer park top north west mart of map. plus there are no zombies there

just go to the warz wiki and learn where things are... and then its easy to loot for what you want/need

So the dev's ripped off License of agreements, changed their name in the hope people will buy it, they stole the logotemplate from a movie, they lied to the community, also blaming the community, false advertising, a tons of hackers, and people who don't hack get banned. The negative reviews were based on the behavior of the dev's itself, so don't go telling "People don't like this game because they can't find ♥♥♥♥" No people don't like this game because it's a piece of crap wich has potential but got destroyed by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dev's who jack-off on money. That's it.

we go through this multiple times a day. its quite tiring

old news the complains are over 6 months old

everybody knows that the name changed cause of resolution of trademark issue with world war z movie.

hackers gone since pb added. have not seen a single one. you can find them all complaining at hacker sites that they've been banned and their cheats no longer work

while reviewers and a small group dump on this game people love this game its solid well within top 100 best selling game and top 100 best played game on steam. and that does not take into account all the direct sales they get and all the players using their launcher which does not register on steam stats.

the game plays, runs, looks and souns great. runs solid 1920x1200 maxed out on two year old system. at this point its a real bargain. especially when on sale like it is now for just $7.5.

if you visit playwarz.com forums you will see the devs hard at work. you can see all the patch notes to all the releases theyve done. you can see all the fixes they mades. all the stuff like skill tree and pb theyve added in response to feedback. you can also read their dev diaries and see what they have been working on and what they play to do in the future that is being worked on.

sure there are problems. every game has some problems. but the problems are small and/or easily resolvable or easy to work around and really dont interfere with the fun.

and sure they started rocky for a small indie company with little resources they done a great job. even well established companies wish they had their sales and number of players and server rentals...

so dont be fooled by all the negative posts you find here. go to playwarz forums and check it out. check out the number of players that steam report or the number of sales on steam top selling games.

right now its like low 30 in both sales and number of players on steam

even when it was released and being dumped on it was selling like hotcakes.

holy ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥ how dense can you be? please explain why there werent any copyright disputes for the name from the ♥♥♥♥ing book World War Z? yes False Advertising was played but now it's no longer false advertising, Hackers have NOTHING to do with the devs and it's usually controlled, and people get banned from the forums not the game itself. not only that what you pretty much described was the devs themselves (which are giant dickbags) and not the game entirely.

Both because a trademark for a game and a book are two different things and the owners of the book didn't sue about it. Paramount had prior rights to World War Z for a movie AND game and they took action to make Hammerpoint change their name.

Not yet, but they filed for the trademark for a game before Hammerpoint did. They're planning a game based on the movie though, yes.
