Good suggestions.

Only problem I have with it is that you are immediately assuming that it is something on HIS end. I'm not ruling out the possibility of it being on his end but people are having some issues whilst others aren't. It's all chaos when it comes to bugs and glitches and such.

ok what error message ar eyou getting look at the windows application/system event log, look at pb logs, look at games log

without providing details its hard to help

i just tried it and it uns great here. so im not sure what can be happening at your end

have you tried doing tracert to servers. perhaps its internet related.

All it says when im trying to login in, "Scanning for Steam Updates". And it just stays at that, and doesn't star up the game, everything else on my computer running okay, including my internet connection.

The game runs fine for YOU. But there are a lot of other people out there having problems when there isn't anything wrong with their PC.

sounds like you have issue with steam launcher and not the game. steam has not yet handed over to the game. it runs its launcher first.

contact steam support

what they most likely will hav eyou do is verify game cache

and then you have to manually run the prerequisites

this is sort of a problem with steam installer that when it failes it does not always able to recover/continue

so you will have to manually run

dxwebsetup

and go to even balance get pbsvc.exe and pbsetup.exe and install, update and run pb

this happening with more and more games and with more people because steam needs to update their installer to deal with issues with windows and windows security....

also when you run the game it needs to talk to their servers so make sure your firewall is not blocking them. when you first ran the game it should have brought up a dialog asking you to allow it to access the internet. i hope you said yes allow always, else well its going to block it and then its a pain you have to run windfows firewall and iether change the existing rules for this game or delete them for this game and then run the game again and get prompte dagain

so contact steam support and work it out with them. notice the thing is steam issue. look at the warning you cite

im using windows 8 and when i launch it in Steam it goes to the update page of the game and when i press play game the game just shuts down
