War Z Hate vs Truth
So I stop in and check out the discussions here in the War Z section and I still see a wall of hate, this vs that, should I get this, and a host of other negative topics.

I have been playing War Z since it started. You want some truth? Here you go.

Is there hacks? Sure, you show me an MMO that don't have any, and I will prove you wrong. Are they doing anything about the hack use? Yes, they just added PunkBuster on top of Fair Fight, and the hack use has most definitely been reduced. No online game will ever be hack free, especially an MMO. The situation is greatly improving in War Z.

Is this game a scam? Are you serious? No. It's 100% real, 100% legit, and it's not going anywhere. It's being updated every week or two. New content it being added. Current content is being updated. Graphic quality is being enhanced. New functionality is in the works. It's a game that undergoing a lot of change, and most of it, is for the better.

Is this DayZ? No, it's not. If you want DayZ, then go play DayZ. I for one play both, I am not a gamer who limits themselves to a black and white, this or that, attitude. I like both games for their own reasons.

Is it fun? That is a matter of opinion. Some people find it easy, others find it hard, some play it PvE in private servers, while others PvP it up in public, and some like me do both. Loot is not too difficult to find. Weapons are pretty common, ammo less common, other supplies to keep you alive are not hard to come by. You never have to spend a single gold coin to survive in War Z.

How well does it run? For me, it runs great. If you are on older out-dated hardware, you might have performance issues, but they are working on keeping the game as optimized as possible, but still upgrading and enhancing it.

Can you solo? Sure, you can survive on your own, I do it all the time. It is a lot more fun with friends though, as are most ♥♥♥♥♥♥mes.

Is it a good game? I can't answer that. You want to know if it's a good game, buy it and make up your own mind. I think it's a good game, with a lot of potential, and I greatly enjoy playing it. It's far from perfect, it has it's share of problems like most games, but it's a game in constant change. I don't think it deserves all the negativity it seems to receives, and I don't think most of those people have played it since alpha, if at all.

Anyway, just wanted to throw this out there. I know this thread with get hit with much of the same hate as many others, but that's fine. Not much you can do about haters online. You just need to realize that a vast majority of the hate is unwarranted, based on lies and rumor, and that god gave you the ability to make up your own mind. I just wish more people actually used that ability instead of following the herd.

Here is a question I have been unable to find an answer for. I played Day-Z and frankly hated it because it is waaaaaay too sloow paced. I would play for 60 minutes and 55 of those minutes would be spent crawling on my stomach. It was just generally very dull and anytime I tried to make it more exciting it resulted in a very quick death.

So is this game more exciting (ie faster paced and full of stuff to do)?

The game does require quite a bit of travel, much like Arma or DayZ. Is it to that extreme extent? Not in my opinion. Most of the time you'll either be dodging hordes of zombies, finding a new location, or encountering other players. To be perfectly frank, the game keeps you on edge for most of the time or at least is entertaining in some way. If you don't have the patience to do it, though, you may want to look elsewhere for an open-world zombie survival.

I hope you all, haters and alike, have a great weekend. Keep Calm and Game On! =]

An MMO without "hacks"?

World of Warcraft, easy.

Yes every game has hacks.. but a multiplayer game that is heavily pvp oriented should not have the amount of hacks War Z has.. it's a joke

He said he has been playing it since it started. It didn't start on steam it started on it's own personal website. For it to be in his steam library he would have had to purchase it twice. He never said he did that.

Well thought out post. I jumped on here to read about it before purchasing to see what the opinions were now. After reading yours, I purchased the game.

Thanks.

Does your friend steamroll other players in PvP because of these "hacks"? No. Can he teleport other players to under his axe and then chop their heads off? No. Can he drop a nuke on the entire server? No.

I don't even understand why you guys are comparing War Z to WoW since only WoW is an MMO.

100 people on the same server is hardly massive. Unless you're a massive idiot.

A MMO without hacks is Simcity 5, according to EA

Everything on there is at least 5 months old.

I'm aware of the bad press at game release - I'd be more worried if they didn't continue updating it.
