There are rumors about engine after this huge attack :-)
So, maybe it is realy stolen?
Its not like i am going to stop playing this game because of this. Of course its not their own engine, what did you expect? Engine built from the ground? no, they did exacly what DayZ did. Took another engine and added their stuff. is it anything wrong with that?
well...
Good luck then.
Dayz is a mod for a game called Armed assault 2 if you've ever heard about it, also the maker of dayz is an employ at the very company behind Arma 2 which is Bohemia Interactive also their engine has never been stolen they made that engine back in 1997 if i don't remember wrong.
still a mod, just like WarZ but made on an engine that actually works.
If I am reading this right... wow...
I think you may need some help with the definition of a mod... because by your definition anything that runs on the same engine is a mod. Which would make Alien Swarm, Dota 2, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, Nuclear Dawn, Portal, Postal 3, VampireL the Masquerade Bloodlines (etc etc) all mods of Counter Strike: Source.
And they are all mods of Half-life, Counter-strike was a mod and was so popular that valve wanted to make it into a stand alone title.
EDIT: Valve bought up alot of modders idéas, portal was made by a couple of high school students and they started to work for valve. same thing with Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat and Team Fortress
that's... not how mods work though... once it has a unique exe and sku, it stops being a mod and starts being a game that also runs on the same engine. Some of these games DID start as mods, but by the logic stated by the OP Half-life 2 is the mod of Counter-Strike:Source (CS: Source was the first game released on the source engine).
read what i said dude, "they were all mods"
Calm down
