Has it improved
If i remember correctly this was orriginally yanked due to being a problematic beta release, I never gave it a shot because the flaws seemed rather universal.

I'd like to try it but I need to know if things have changed, not neccisarily to fit the ideals of those who didn't like the game, but has it changed to become something that if approached objectively could be enjoyed?

Do you like PVP only deathmatch with no story or character development, collectibles or missions? Can you get past the Devs behavior, the not yet fulfilled promises and questionable ethical issues? If your answer is yes, then sure, go for it.
I suggest you check out WarINC first as it is basically what you will get (well that and zombies). Hammerpoint hasn't updated it in almost 6 months so it may be devoid of other players. I think you should be able to download it still.

Its not like DayZ was a wealth of Depth beyond PVP and zombies

I do this every day I launch origin. not to say I enjoy encouraging bad devs but avoiding every video game with a dubious developer would be like avoiding R&B because of chriss brown.

Elder Scrollls, Call of Duty MW (not Black Ops), Counter Strike. I get what your saying and while not every game is made by crap house developers I will say i don't often shy away from games with them.

Not a whole lot of good reasons not to if the game is both playable and enjoyable.

The game was yanked by Steam due to evidence of fraud. Forbes of all places even reported on it for quite some time. They also stole artwork from the Walking Dead, stole the entire game assets from War Inc, and their patent got revoked because the name was similar to upcoming Brad Pitt Zombie movie World War Z. If you feel like wasting $15 I could suggest a lot better games than this one.

Just read this; also note that no real updates of the game. There skills system doesn't even work properly still. Read on the offical fourms this game is in bad shape. I wouldn't doubt if it was going to be abandon like the last.

The game has definitely improved but the changes are slow in coming but even so the game is fun, in no other game have I had such fun in gunplay battles, I recommend finding a clan to play with for the best fun. I really do get the sense these developers are trying but due to their lack of ability and being a small team you just have to be patient.

Nothing monumental has changed about the game since the scandal hit everyone's radar. If you thought the game was a scam in alpha, you will still think it is a scam now. That being said, there HAVE been updates (which is more than I expected when I bought the game).

If you enjoy Day Z, but hate the way the controls in arma 2 feel, you might be the niche audience that would enjoy War Z. If you DON'T absolutely hate the controls in Arma 2... just play Day Z instead. It has a lot more features and nobody will give you crap for playing it.

I also enjoy that War Z has an inventory banking system and is easier to play with friends.

.

1) I wouldn't recomend Day-Z either. I don't know why people think if you dislike WarZ you have to like Day-Z. That's as silly as saying if you don't like Oatmeal cookies you MUST like Raisin cookies. One has nothing to do with the other.

2) Not quite. A better analogy for avoiding this game because of the actions of Hammerpoint would be if you didn't buy a Chris Bown song because he beats women. See you don't avoid an entire genre just because of one dev. You just avoid that dev!

Sergey doesnt speak up much anymore....that's kind of sad.
The doctor is in Mar 12, 2013 @ 10:57am
they added skill tree recently and have been fixing bugs

so its slowly improving, still not at the point of original store page feature list

mostly having to do with maps and other missing features

doesnt filling the new skill tree just bring you back to the state you were before they introduced skill trees in the first place ?

I've heard that theory, but I'm inclined not to fully believe it as I have recorded marginal gains from the stamina tree (estimating them around the ballpark of 5% increases). It actually wouldn't imply less work/progress of the game either way though even if the old baseline was the new maxed out. The most damning thing you can say about their level of effort is that all these skills currently change are passive values.. which isn't THAT hard to pull off in terms of a mechanic.
