Where do you get the cd key after buying this game? i bought it for a friend and he didn't get a cd key

best way was not to just go to the official forum and read. best way was for the damn thing to just work.

If you bought the game through Steam, the key should be located in the Steam library.

You can do one of the following things:

1. Right click on the game name in the library and you should see "View CD Key" right below "Play Game".

2. On the library detail page that shows the install/play button, news, etc. There's a "Links" section. "CD Key" is usually right under "Store Page" near the middle bottom part of the section.

If it's not in either place, try quitting and restarting Steam. If it's still not there, there's some kind of error going on that will most likely require contacting Steam Support to fix.

If you'd like to test it out to see how it should work, I saw that you have Fallout 3 in your library. It's a game that has a key and you can use the instructions I gave using that game to verify the process.

My friend i bought the game for did not have that option to view cd key on steam, it told him he could get a key from the steam store. which is odd considering i just bought the game for him there.
