looking forward to this. This is the first time I've heard rockets voice...not what I was expecting lol, warning to headphone users that have never heard him speak before it is shrill

i always expected him to sound like a d-bag. mostly because every single picture of him- makes him look like a d-bag.
I was actually pleasantly suprised by his voice.

I dont think a decent product could have been released in December.
Dean is known for overhyping his own stuff and then playing the pity card. He is terribly unprofessional- yet somehow charismatic. I guess he plays his cards right. The biggest issue is the realy "dayZ fan boys" that pretty much stop at nothing to give him a quickie every time he speaks.

I haven't been following day-z for very long but I've noticed that as well just in the last few months that I've been interested in it

Would be actually nice to see the zombies of this "zombie game".
Sure it looks pretty but if the zombies are like in the mod, ill pass. From what I can tell from this video, I wont expect it to release any time soon. By that I mean its probably gonna go open beta next year if we are lucky.

They have a reservation on steam for a store page already. I would say you could probably pre order late march, ful retail release may-june timeframe.

The zombies are supposed to be SIMILAR to the mod ones, just the whole attacking through walls, and zig zagging fixed. The latest patch for dayz mod made zombies 10x tougher, they pull you out of vehicles now, and they are "social"- so if you aggro one, usually you get a dozen or so.

I really hope they sort the zombies out, the way they act and their animations they were terrible and was the main reason I got put off by the game, the insane inventory system was another reason, im glad they seem to have made the gfx's abit more vibrant and colourful though.

Do you think it will be worth pre-ordering the Day Z stand alone?

On the one hand you do get it slightly cheaper and are allowed to play as soon as the store officially releases it once you have pre-downloaded it but on the other hand, none of us know if it will live up to the hype and weather or not we will be dissapointed and also we'll be subject to god know's how much server down time due to patches, and open to hackers etc..

I just can't make my mind up weather to pre-order it or wait for a month or so till there are some review's. I guess the decision will also be chiefly governed by how much the finished game actually costs.

So does that still mean that they will spot you from 250 feet away, run up to you like they are an olympic gold medalist with a trail of friend's behind them and kill you in 3 or 4 hits? Honestly, I think the Zombies were tough enough already, there was no need to make them 10X tougher not when you have no starting weapon.

They don't sound like zombie's to me tbh if they pull you out of vehicles, more like very strong, very fast, very tough dead people.

Can't we please just go back to the old slow, brain dead masses of slowly decomposing bodies that "attempt" to kill you? Pretty please, with cherries on top... It would be so nice :)

Rocket has already stated there will be no preorders for the standalone.

Nobody know, now they are just IA soldiers tweeked with some scripts, but we can imagine when the mechanic will be directly implented in the engine, they will be as credible as the actual ARMA IA look like a soldiers.

He said there are no current preorders for DayZ. He stated somewhere (looking for source) That the game will be available for purchase the moment it is on steam, for a cheaper price than when it is "fully complete"
Essentially you get it for cheaper during foundation release than 6-12 months latsr when it is "done"

I think it will be worth it getting ASAP as opposed to later- Dean is usually very good about keeping *most* of his word, and he clearly has a vision for what he wants to do with the game. The game is already going to look AND run better than DayZ mod, plus it is going to have diseases, clothing, and generally more complexity than the mod.

That being said, I wouldnt expect it to be a totally different game- the core gameplay will be similar, just s.oothed out and the zombie AI will be greatly improved. If you thought DayZ was utterly boring before, it will still be utterly boring- hpwever it will be much smoother, much less buggy, and have quite a few extras in there. there are plans for more.

I will throw my cash at it the moment I can, and it will probably be like 15-20 bucks. Dont quote me on that but i couldnt see it being more than that.

Also, the slow brain dead zombies of old arent threatening. maybe creepy, but they would be no challenge.
I always saw these "zombies" being more like 28 days later rage virus zombies. They arent undead, just diseased.

As opposed to War Zs identity crisis zombies that dont know if they want to be Romero Zombies, Rage Virus carriers, or Haitian VouDou zombies.

I'm tempted to wait it out at least a couple days to see if the zombies are still Olympians or if they've found some kinda of middle ground. I hate the sprinting ones especially if they're going to be fixing the AI so they can actually move full speed inside buildings...right now it's your only safe place to run.

Well the idea is that they are a threat. I believe they will be fixing issues with LOS and hearing so they dont hear you around the corner and two blocks away- but i believe Dean said he would keep them fast- because otherwise it wont be zombie survival, itll be deathmatch with zombies in it...
Kinda like War Z.
If the zombies arent a threat, why bother having them? just to prevent you from AFKing in the middle of the street?

If there was a real zombie apoc. If they were slow shuffling zombies, I imagine that gettig squashed fast. I mean, you expect every military to fall to a bunch of brain dead idiots who walk 2-3 feet per second?
