Better get that saved before it mysteriously disappears like everything else involving that man!

"The game is shutting down and Kewk is a meany face". That about sums it up. HAHA

I can totally see The War Z shutting down at the end of Feb. There's no way this game is bringing in the numbers they claim. I mean, not unless the people they're bringing in can't read.

What number of sales are they claiming exactly? I believe I made a rather strong arguement in another thread that realisticly if their item shop fails the game sales even inflating them to 100,000 sales wouldn't be enough to host, patch, and add content to the game for long.
My guess is the item shop isn't doing too hot and thats why they added silencers and night vision to it.

February is a possibility for the game to shut down if they want to walk away with any profits but they could run it for longer than that but again it's a case of cutting into the sales profits which is basically all they have. Employee salaries, bandwith fees, taxes, office renting, % of cuts for Steam and Xsolla per sale (undoubtfully mostly Steam), all the costs previously before release. There is simply no way that they have a sustainable amount of money to keep this game running for the long term even if they sold 100,000 copies which of course they didn't.

That´s why I wonder why the private servers feature isn´t in the game. As far as I remember it, they said these servers would be rentals.
Wouldn´t this be another way to get money for them?

Their gosting fees are probably a lot more than they expected.
I wouldnt be suprised if they need a 6 GB server with dual cores and a good bit of bandwidth, Server hosting would probably cost 30$ a month, and thy said they expect servers to cost 15 a month. the game is not optimised at all, And they probably didnt account for that with requirements projection.
If you think that each server is gosted on its own vps, The 100 man servers probably cost them 50 a month, the 50 man servers are probably 30 a month. lets just say each server averages to 40 a month, at 500 servers they have to pull in $20k a month just to cover servers. add on web and other infrastructure- probably another 5k a month, and lets assume their programmers get paid AVERAGE at about 8000 a month, if they have 10 developers thats 80k a month.

so they are probably looking at just over $100,000 a month in operating costs. That means they have to sell 100k worth of stuff in game every month to break that comes out to 70,000,000 GC. Yes. SEVENTY MILLION.

now that is assuming they do in fact break even on their game server rentals. and not lose money.

Hammerpoint/Online Warmongers/Arktos did once say they'd release War Inc 2 in February. But you know how it is with these people.

The map is 4k x 4k with the player/zombie models shrunk in half (some buildings weren't fully rescaled)
How does that make any sense at all? What's the point? It's not that difficult to generate landscape geometry. What does "fully rescaled" mean? Scaling an object down 25% when it needs to be scaled down 50% makes no sense. Why would you do that?

Maybe other things that reddit said are true, but that one sounds quite sketchy. Who is it that's saying these things anyway? Did he used to work for Hammerpoint?

The issue is, the map would be 10k x 10k if the players were something like 14ft (about 4.5m) tall. I dont know HOW HamPo got 10x10, but if they did it legit- Colorado is the land of the giants; where a car is 10 feet tall, and the average tree is 500+ feet. whatever scale they used- is all kinds of mathmatically messed up.

Yes, the game code actually says 10x10, the people who have done the hacks and the emulator have actually said that, but they also said its in a world where 500m equals about 200 of our meters

Not to mention over half the map is unplayable terrain.

Hahaha, The thread's gone already.

Why do they bother having a forum if they are going to delete everything?

In 15+ years of gaming, I have never known a single company delete this many posts from it's forum. Almost every other link that you click on is either deleted or locked.

Well, I do have a theory about that but will admit it is based on speculation despite being reasonable thoughts. With the logical conclusion being that the game did not reach amazing sales figures and the item shop is obviously not going to bring in the continued costs is also the cause behind the lack of server rentals. That may sound confusing as renting the servers would llikely mean profits it does not ensure large enough profits due to other costs.

So, if you were to rent a server from them for a year they would be legally obligated to prove this service to you since you pre-paid. If they are bleeding out money like I strongly believe they are at this point people renting the servers would prevent them from full abandonment of the game which logically they will have to do soon if they wish to walk away with any profit.
It would simply be in their best intrest to never deliever this feature.

and does any one know if their official sales figures are modified now to reflect the amount of refunds that they have had to make?

Honestly, I think their figures include counting every character foe every account (even guest accts)
Because looking at the number of people playing, I have no reason to believe that they sold as many units as they did.

You mean to tell me that at any given time less than 1/2% of owners of the game are playing? How would that be something to brag about?

Because that's still more player's than they expected to have playing after the 1st 3 month's of it's launch? :p

Unfortunately i didn't.

it was basically kewk vs some guy i dont know. They both were trying to "intellectually" bash on each other using snide and preppy comebacks. It was pretty petty.
