New Updates Coming Soon!!
So they just released the notes for the new update

This patch is scheduled for January 22nd, 2013.


Name plates have been added to players. These name plates will display when you target another player.
New reputation titles have been added to the game. Reputation icons will display under nameplates for easy identification of friendly or foe! (everyone's titles will be reset to civilian) Please see our dev diaries for a detailed explanation tomorrow morning (1/18/13).
Leaderboards have been added to the games main menu.
Every new character will now start with a flashlight. Even after the initial starter items have been used.
A Flare gun has been added to the game.
A server hopping fix has been added to the game. Please see our dev diaries for a detailed explanation tomorrow morning (1/18/13).
Added the ability to remove the game hud by pressing F12 while in game.
It is now possible to turn the flash light off while wielding it. Press F to toggle the flashlight on and off.
The in game map will now properly zoom in and out.
Toxicity has been added to the game. Please see our dev diaries for a detailed explanation tomorrow morning (1/18/13).
Update backpacks weights - Reduced max backpack weight. Just to be safe put everything in your GI before patch. If you are too heavy you will not be able to move.
GC transaction log has been added (in marketplace there will be button to check your GC statement)
Memory optimizations
Fixed a bug that had characters set to revive at 99hrs.
The targeting reticle has been changed back to a cross.
Overgrowth has been added to main city structures. This is still a work in progress.
Added a bunch of furniture to the interior of some buildings and houses.
Opened up the interiors of some additional buildings. We will be adding a lot more in the future as well!
Added Mini Saints snacks to the game.

I'll have to see exactly how easy it is to get a nameplate/rep to display, but I love the idea of them making it so banditry isn't the only reasonable option.

I think their server hopping solution sounds fairly reasonable without being intrusive to people NOT server hopping (I am more concerned about the bugs that will need to be ironed out with it)

Being able to turn off the flashlight is a "oh thank god" sorta update

i think the flashlight thing is a tad to late, would have been good like in WEEK ONE! hahah, nehow yea the Server Hopping is fairly ok, and actually much better then what i was thinking they would release. I hope it works and is implemented well so it will discourage at least some of it.

Yea the Nameplate thing can be a real big hit or miss type of thing. im hoping it will only display when they are with in proximity (like prox chat) and not a hit scan for you to look out in the horizon to get easy snipe kills

not so hard to get around, if you are too heavy then just move another toon to that area and drop and jump to that toon, lil risky but it works :)

What exactly is the Toxicity effect? Because it sound's to me like the food/water dehydration thing all over again.

I'm not sure that I like the sound of that or with the changes to back pack weight.

Oh wait in those 3 months they also nerfed respawn time, gun drop rates and gave you a kattanna. Great hard work there.

Ah tbh, I'm having a grand time on the Day Z and if anyone has a problem with that ♥♥♥♥ em. It's my money, my account, my archive and my time. I appreciate the head's up Sky but I'm done with buying Zombie survival games for now mate until the Day Z stand alone comes out or they either seriously improve the War Z or it goes free to play and I don't go back on my word. I'm only really using this forum to keep check on all the latest news, updates and controversy's if truth be known.

DayZ is a awesome game, please have fun with it i know i did. WarZ is coming along, the Dead Linger looks really promising but its soooooooo early alpha and rough looking but i love that idea of how big it is and all. Just needs alot of time and care :)
