My point of view on WarZ after paying $50.
First of all let me start by saying I am no WarZ or Dayz fanboy, I like both games but it just so happens I like WarZ better, so I play it.

Like the title says I am actually one of the people that paid $50 for it. And to tell you I don't feel ripped off one bit. I've had fun with the game. If I play a game more then a week it's worth it to me. One weekend, my nephew and I played for hours. Was alot of fun. And for all those who paid $15 for the game, really. That's like 1 3d movie, which is only 1 1/2 to 2 hours long. 3 starbucks coffees. 1 crappy used game from gamestop. I believe this game is worth 15. Yes I get killed by hackers, yes I get spawn killed, but there is something about the genre that I love. The first company to bring out a well polished zombie survival game will also probably get my money.

I do believe them leading on steam users was wrong. So if you are a stream buyer I can understand you being mad. I didn't buy it from steam so I knew what I was buying into. An incomplete game. They should of let people know and for not doing that they are now paying a price. But really, this isn't a steam game, too many babies on steam. And this is what happens when you play with babies. They throw fits and try to get you kicked out. Yeah they lied about what was actually in the game, get your money back and go about your day.

This has turned into a witch hunt though. All this stuff about Dev's or Mod's, who gives a S^&*! I'm not trying to marry em. I don't play a game cause I think a Dev or a Mod is some really cool, nice, honest guy. I play a game because I wanna play it. And knowing something about a dev or mod won't stop me from playing the game. It's a video game, it's not your life partner. You really have to take time out of your day to make a video about an audio recording? You have to cut and paste a conversation that you had with an art designer? You guys need more excitement in your life. Personally I think the game is awesome. And sometimes all 5 of my characters are dead within the first hour, happens.

Take the game for what it is. Zombie/pvp for $15. The people complaining about PVE sound like the idiots over at mmo-champion complaining about ganking on a pvp server in WoW. Red = Dead :) Maybe the game or server isn't for you. Wait for em to bring out a PVE server. Oh and the hackers part, I've ran into more hackers on Dayz then I have on Warz. Might just be me. It's just so funny how all these wanna-be web personallities or web sites are trying to cash in on this. I GOTTA GET MORE FOLLOWERS! So try it for yourself, and don't be a FOLLOWER.

That's great if you feel like you got your money's worth, you deserve to get what you what you pay for. The problem most people in this forum seem to have is with Hammerpoint and their business ethics, not so much the game itself.

Well said! I also play WarZ and DayZ, I paid $15 for WarZ and though I have not played WarZ as long as you have I do enjoy playing it. Yes the hackers have got me many times in both games but I keep at it because like you I enjoy playing those types of games. Geeze I only paid $15 for WarZ I did not get a second morgage on my house.

My point of view on WarZ after paying 50$:
Damn, I'm glad I bought Dear Esther ten times instead of buying WarZ.

I love the game. I played dayz, i mean you had to buy a $30 game just to play the mod. And WarZ has come along and built upon that legacy. I have followed the game since their site went live and feel that getting in $15 was a steal. Can't tell you how many games I have bought into for much more and have played much less. I think im up to almost 60 hours in on WarZ and can't get enough of it. The Zombie/Survival MMO genre is new. Most don't understand it, the 2 companies(Bohemia and Hammerpoint) that I know of that have branched out this genre are trekking into unknown territory, and the hardcore gamer is a very skeptical and vocal crowd.
Like the OP stated, I to have been killed by hackers, bandits, the occasional bad choice and eaten by zombies, and it is that much more of a challenege to get back in. I haven't had a game get my heart racing and creep into my every waking thought like this game has. I know there are many haters, and many of those haters haven't even played the game or do not understand the genre. Hammerpoint made some mistakes, and I don't blame people if they got into something they were not educated on. But for those that haven't tried or have been on the fence. Be patient, this genre and WarZ, are new and only getting better. IF you want to find faults you will find them with pretty much any company or game, I have been a gamer for over 20 years and have seen many good/bad/ugly games come and go. This is a good game, it is growing and improving, and most of all patients is a virtue. If you have it, then this game and others like it to come, will improve and be well worth the $15, 20, 30 50 whatever price it goes to.

One parting word of advice if anyone made it this long in my post, don't believe everything you read on the internet. Unless you have actually tried the game and understand its history, there is a huge amount of tainted and misinformation out there. Mistakes were made, they have owned those mistakes. They have a plan for the future and I am excited to see what they will be adding next.

I bought a legendary package... the game was fun for the first week and a half of alpha, but only because of the promise of all the other features that were going to be added incrementally during the alpha stage that would flesh it out and make it worth playing.

When they never came the game became boring and awful to play. There's no purpose to the game whatsoever and it just became an exercise in patience trying to deal with all the bugs, flaws and poor game design. Oh, and missing features.

The gaming sucking is the least of the reasons to despise it however. The actions of the dev team, the amount of shady companies tied to this product, the community management, constant lies, fraudulent business practices, abandonment of War Inc, reused assets, past ventures & inability to code or create even the simplest of resources stand much higher on my list.

Even if the game were good I would still do my best to turn people away from this product just to make the statement that scamming is unacceptable and won't go unpunished.

again, you are willingly giving money to a 'proven' scam artist. Sergey has done this before with other games, and will keep doing it because he always finds people like you who are willing to throw money at him on a promise..

You say dont believe everything on the internet unless you have tried the game and understand it's history..... well my friend I 'have' in fact played the game, heck I had over five hours into it before I got my refund. And I very well understand the history, I am informed about nearly everything that has been happening over the past months.

and by the way, history isnt looking too good for Sergeys cash grab called the War Z.....but history also shows as PT Barnum once said " There is a sucker born every minute" ... and you my friends who are willingly giving this crook money are those 'suckers'.

The quality or "fun" of the game has ceased to matter. I can not abide the overwhelmingly despicable, cynical behavior and practices of this developer, or encouragement of it.

Literally false advertising. And then the guy has the gall to claim there were no lies. That a vocal minority misread. Zero responsibility. They released a patch which increased the respawn timer, introduced a "pay to respawn" feature and changed the ToS to disallow refunds. Examples, top of an iceberg. It's like...unbelievable, indefensible, irredeemable infractions. Many and severe. The major one being actually illegal.

Seems like it'd be kind of hard to have a POV with your face buried in a pillow, recieving the lubeless lovin.
Bassquaeler 29. des. 2012 kl. 4.43
Well, i guess from Sergeys point of view it was no lie because he still want's to deliver what he/they have promissed. They just rushed the foundation release a bit. The only missreading/misscommunication was not to say clearly on the steam page that some of the stuff is not jet in there. If you understand this is not a boxed/finished product but an online game like many others these days which get more and more features added over time, then you understand what the missunderstanding was all about. But people who didnt know what they buy into got their money back anyway, so this is no intentional fraud or scam at all.

What is it with these positive posts taking on the personality of the developers and moderators? It seems... eerie. The concerns we have are numerous and transparent. We aren't just complaining about the Dev's being misleading with the page though. There are more problems with them than just that.

You don't play a game because you like the personality of the devs and mods, don't you? I don't want to be their friend, i wan't to play a fun game.

reeeeallly.......

do tell.

so all of the proof that is out there of the blatant and misleading fraud and scam marketing is just a lie ??

you mean Steam pulled it off and freely offered full refunds on a wrong assumption and not proof ?

wow. was I ever uninformed.

you changed my mind, I'm gonna go re-buy War Z and play forever in a hacker free environment. !

I don't support a game that has a team known for scamming people from their money and leaving a project half finished. We have no reason to believe that Sergey and his team will finish the game and with a leader who treats the community as nothing but infants its not something I want to buy into. When you buy into a game that is unfinished to the point where hackers are ramped and the development team is doing nothing about it other than blackmailing people in order to get a list of names of people who MIGHT be hacking you're not doing too well in my book.
