I'm somewhat baffled by the forums here on steam
Now I am not new to Steam, but I am very new to their practices, and after today I am seeing that some of them are rather shakey. My question is about the War Z Forums. I've noticed that developers of the game are not only moderating their forums, but also the forums on here. Is this normal for Steam to allow devs to mod Steam forums? And if so, why is that privilage not removed when the product is so substandard that Steam removes it from sale?

It wasnt the product that was substandard... it was their presentation.

No they're wacking it to pictures of all that sucker money in Las Vegas.

As in the way it was presented to the consumer?

The game is good, and is promised to turn into something great.

Kwek is to busy partying in vegas atm, no more bans from that assclown.

Yes it's normal for game devs to have elevated rights to forums about their game. And I don't think Valve's ever had to deal with a situation quite like this one.

This has nothing to do with the question asked. Why does Valve allow Devs to do damage control for a product that is not what it claims to be?

Yes. They presented features in the description of the game that are not yet in-game, but are planned. There was an over reaction to this that caused Hammerpoint to make even more mistakes in their presentation that do not do the game any justice.

The mod team is power hungry and censors any critical posts of the game to make it seem awesome to new users. This now extends to every forum they can be admin on.

Seems to me that Valve need to hire people to play games before they throw them up for sale and they taint their good name forever.

Yeah well Valve need to put these Devs on serious probation when it comes to Steam, otherwise this will happen again.

Kewk the moderator imposed a frightening amount of extra rules to this forum, which states we can't even discuss about hackers, because any thread with that word will get deleted.
It's not normal, and they are trying to control everything with an iron fist.
There were extremely many people getting a surprise ban because they critized the game in some form, threads being deleted, locked, etc. It got so bad, Valve had to send a representative here to listen to the feedback of the users here.

They ban to get the people who do not like their game or ask direct questions silenced! They are UNPAID moderators with no experience; who with this new found power, abuse it causing such a stir in the gamer community that it folded over into Steam. They banned and done wrong by so many users, fans, and potentiel customers believing the whole time that it would never come back to haunt them. LESSON: If you scr3w over so many people and then continue to run a shady business it WILL come back to bite you in the azz.

The game is the property of hammerpoint. Valve can remove these forums, but they cant remove hammerpoint without doing so.

No one has the rights to host and manage public discussions about someone elses IP, take a fansite for example, the IP owner may have fansites shut down for violation of (blah blah you get the point? im to tired to go on xD)

I totally understand this, but they need to have some Steam mods in here 24/7 to make sure that HammerPoint Devs are following Steam protocols just like Hammerpoint makes us follow theirs.
