I've never played Day Z myself, but from the videos I saw I wasn't interested. Hopefully the standalone game is better (to me) than the mod was.

Thus far, WarZ has no animals or vehicles of any kind. Both are pretty buggy. If I remember correctly, people have been categorizing War Z as more of an arcade shooter than Day Z is.

I'm probably not the best person to answer that, having not played DayZ myself. If no one else answers here, I'd suggest looking on Youtube... there are a lot of videos of both games on there and it should give you something of an idea what each one is like.

I have both DayZ and WarZ. I like both games. I have more fun in WarZ though. I hate hiking for 30 minutes just to die.

That's somewhat debatable by some people, but it's considered that way by most, yes. When they almost completely remove ammo spawns and put them in the marketplace, it's hard to argue against it at times.

I played countless hours on DayZ. One big thing I like more about WarZ is that you can kill a zombie and clear out a small town. On DayZ, if you shoot or attract a zombie, more keep spawning around you basically making you have to avoid all zombies to begin with. Other than that DayZ has larger worlds, vehicles, and everything is free. WarZ will get there in the long run with updates. The DayZ standalone will be a huge improvement especially against script hackers.
