is there a trick?

I just started, as soon as I get in I walk around for 20 minutes doing nothing. I finally find some zombies, OH YEAH....I get ass raped by 2 of them in like 3 hits.
OK that sucked, new char. I go back and get one of those suckers alone. I swing randomly and cant tell if I'm close enough to hit him with my trusty flash light or not. I kill the zombie, and have 10% HP. No big deal, I got band aids...They heal 5% of my health. Next zombie I swing to early and get hit once...dead.

I looked at buying some guns and ammo. For one clip its like a dollar, same for gun. Oh well, I will get more ammo with my two dollars in guns. .. .. Fire, mobbed, dead...Lost my guns.

So is there a trick to knowing when to swing melee on a zombie? Are there better heals? Is this game intentionally hard to steal my money?

The game is just hard, surviving the zombie apocalypse isn't for the weak. I find spending money on the game kind of ruins it and to tell the truth you should just follow the rules you here in zombie movies. As for weapon range i have never had a problem with it, as long as you get one alone just run up to it and beat it to death they can't hit you after you hit them... Aim upward as you are hitting them forr the head.

Can be a frustrating game when you first start, but doesn't take long to get into it and understand it better,. Best advice would be look for antibiotics for meds at the clinics in smallville, clearview and parkerville and look for melee weapons other than the flashlight which are everywhere, try finding a partner to play with for extra fun and the melee swinging is quite easy once you know how it works. And no the game doesn't try to steal your money I've pld since the Alpha and I have never had to spend real money on items they are all in the game except for the sniper ammo, infact hammerpoint have given me so much free GC over the months me and my clan have used it to pay for a server for 3 months now free of charge.

Of course it is NOT intended;) what you think of pure human kindness towards the player you just have to search no more Just buy (kan you almost can not find ammo).

lol since when someone says here to buy weapons in the marketplace you can not read or is it limited to the vocabulary which the googel translate or have translated your brain is not able to create the error in the written at the right rate? (free by GOOGLE TRANSLATE)

Well no, I found a pistol running around a farm. I ran it, grabbed it, and ran away before the zombies could get me. The money I spent was on ammo.
EDIT: Wow if I hide empty and full server, there are none in the list.

That seems extremely unlikely... what else are you filtering on...

There are about 3k players playing War Z on steam at the moment.. I doubt all of them have neatly filled up servers such that nobody is playing on a server with a free slot.

I had "private server" checked. My bad.

Acutally, just for other newbs, I found getting up in the zombies face and holding down the "knife" button to be the best way to deal with them. After dying plenty of times trying to "time" it right, I think the lag is just to much, and the animations for the zombie hits are to far off to try to use any skill. Might just be im still new, but it seems like there are time I take damage when I should, and other times I take damage way after they swing.
