Well said.
Plus all these posts from hardcore supporters vs hardcore detractors get funnier every time more problems pop up.
I'll go back to playing on my stronghold server with vehicles and 200 other people. It looks great with the raycast shadows (or any character shadows at all) and mobs of running zombies that crawl and climb over things like in the store pages screenshots.... oh wait, guess those aren't up yet. I could have sworn that they were promised in Dec, then Jan, then Feb...
Well it's only April, 5+ months isn't that bad of a wait.
Sal seems to be more focused on the actual gameplay and design though and is somehow convinced that Day Z is the clear winner between the two when there are actually positives for both of these games that I wish were combined into one, actually good, game.
I actually also own Day Z and play both as i feel they are 2 different styles of game within the genre, some things war z does better others dayz.
What the hell is with this pick a camp mentality?, whats wrong with enjoying your gaming time and letting others do the same without constant hate crap?
You have your blind DayZ/War Z supporters who each think that ONLY their game is good and the other one is trying to destroy their way of life. I know moderators have fostered this rivalry either as an excuse for things not being done fast enough or to rally their players. You see this a lot in countries that are preparing for war. You pick another country that had different ideals or competes with you in the global marketplace and you demonize those people through propaganda. It solidifies your people, makes them feel like they are the ones under attack and they will push back and support their rulers unconditionally. We all know people from both DayZ/War Z camps that are like this.
You have your crusaders that feel that ethical violations have taken place. The false advertising, broken promises, homophobic slurs, the artwork and music that were "accidentally" borrowed (according to the press release). Those people may have been taken advantage on one of Sergey's earlier games (I know I fell for the Big Rigs shovelware and still hold resentment 10 years later). The actions of the devs are the source of this groups anger.
You have your ex-players who are upset at not getting everything they were promised or were banned (either justly or unjustly). The players who spent money in the shop just to have the items lost within one minute of spawn. There will be tons of anger at the feeling you were taken advantage.
You have those people who feel violated about being the victums of a hacker. This is not totally Hammerpoints fault, their security was negligent and almost non existent, but Black Hat hacking can happen to anyone. These people are lashing out at a company they feel didn't protect their personal information.
You have the shills or alt-accounts of Hammerpoint. Granted these are rare and you can never prove it. But if someone is blindly spouting praise with no logic, giving information that no one outside the dev team could know (status of the hacking repair for example), their Steam account was made in June/July of last year (or even newer than that) and has a handful of games where War Z is clearly the only one getting play time... well if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it sure ain't no elephant.
Lastly you have the true Trolls, the ones that just want to watch the net burn. Try not to feed those ones.
The problem is that each group is arguing a separate point and not understanding the other persons view, so when they debate each other you just have mass confusion, leading to frustration, leading to name calling and flame wars.
True, Sal was talking about the gameplay not the devs. I hope there is a game based on the John O'Brien "A New World" books. Millitary action mixed with zombies, mmmmm good!
Did you leave me off your list? or was I supposed to be covered in one of those categories?
Or the people who wander in from other forums and are really confused at what is going on! I keep telling Grandpa Billy that this isn't the Sherman Tank simulator but he just smiles and asks for another diaper.
Strong Like Bull does indead work, it reduces the weight of items you carry. It does not add additional carry weight. For instance;
a M4 normally weighs 3.0 but with SLB2 it will weigh 2.6.
a M107 weighs 11.0 but with SLB2 it will weigh 9.4.
So it is a proprtional weigh decrees and not a flat weight reduction. Im sure someone out there with more math skill than me could come up with how they work this out. This weight decrease may not seem like much but it can add up. With SLB2 you can carry a M107 with a small backpack, otherwise you need to have a medium to even pick one up.
