Had the pleasure of driving the striker.. I ran over a few zombies but some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ decided to shoot me on sight, oh well.

Opinions on vehicles in game so far?

As with everything else they add, they make you great targets. That's my opinion on them. As well as it being pathetic it took them this long.

i agree. These cars are made out of cardboard or something I took all the damage when the guy shot at the car i was in..

Vehicles are a joke.

There are so many things wrong with them that it isn't even funny. Sure, they're on the test servers and therefore are expected to be buggy and broken.

But when they have supposedly been working on them for a year, with one guy working on them exclusively, I would expect much more than 2 vehicles of epically broken proportions. Personally, in this case, the guy working on them should be fired for doing such a terrible job.

EDIT: Not only that, but the patch in and of itself is a joke; breaking the game for just about every AMD user yet again. It too kthem 2 months to fix the last issue AMD users had, how long will this one take?

I don't think you've used cars enough to know that that isn't the only thing wrong with them.

These vehicles are, at this point, no better than those in big Rigs.

Played for a few hours last night.

The vehicles definitely add a new element to the game, but they also need some work, as right now they are pretty op.

The Good:
-No more hoofing it from place to place anymore
-You have to fill with gas and repair to keep it going
-Mowing down zombies and other players is very fun
-3 different vehicle models... I was only expecting one or two tops
-Lots of variety in where they spawn... pretty much every major city
-Seems to remedy the constant sniping prevelant in the game now that you can get to a sniper's location much quicker
-Once integrated into the official, private, and veteran servers, it will save time to gather clan members together and make PvE more fun/less boring
-Allows for players in general to want to experience and enjoy more of the map...people were everywhere last night, not just the PvP hot spots

The Bad:
-Touchy handling
-Can't shoot out the tires
-Takes 3 clips or more to destroy... not many people wasting ammo on vehicles
-Players getting run down without hearing the sound of the vehicle approaching (sound issues in general)
-Only third person view
-Watched people trying to ram into one another... does not seem to do any damage...i.e. the dune buggies should run the risk of blowing up if involved in a high speed collision with an APC or a static object
-Passengers can't shoot out of the vehicle
-Players in the vehicle take very litttle damage and although I was getting hit while in the vehicle I was losing little to no health
-Zombies hurt the driver but not the passengers (this is what one of my clan members was saying... not sure if true as I personally was not in a situation where I experienced this)

The Ugly:
-They get stuck... the APC was stuck on a blade of grass in Frosty and it wasn't going anywhere after that
-While driving is pretty smooth, riding along is laggy
-APC is supposedly going to allow for nine people to get in it... as of right nor if you try to get more than three in it the game crashes
-Game crashes, one we experienced while the buggy was in mid air, and you will be teleported back to where the car originally spawned when you rejoin the server

Obviously some optimization and balance are needed, but so far people (in my clan anyway) seemed to enjoy them. Some guys who haven't been on in awhile came out of the woodwork (myself included) and were getting some enjoyment out of the game.

A few things that would really add to vehicles and the game in general:
-Ability to shoot out the tires
-Creating a new item - spike strips
-Make the gasoline item flammable

Hopefully they keep working on it, otherwise the initial interest and buzz will undoubtedly be short-lived.

I'd like to reply to this if I may. Don't worry, I'm not going to insult you about it, but rather see if I can agree with it or not.

1) Totally agree, vehicles are definitely needed in a map that is even this big. Walking around everywhere with horrible stamina is atrocious and needed fixing asap. However, for the size of the map, it would have been better to introduce bikes of some sort as the map is simply too small for proper vehicles.

2) This is a good and bad thing. Currently, vehicles are extremely easy to destroy, with them taking damage from even the most ridiculous of objects (small rocks, even when driving normally the HP goes down). Not to mention that repair kits are on the marketplace, this puts HP in the perfect position as it basically forces people to buy them as they aren't that common on the map. I suspect that gas will soon be purchaseable on the marketplace as well.

3) Whilst this idea is great, it is currently highly broken as zombies can still do damage to you when they hit the car from the side.

4) Having multiple different vehicles is good, don't get me wrong. But I'd rather them have just one vehicle so they can get it tested and then potentially avoid bugs in other vehicles they implement.

5) From what I know, they spawn in every town. This idea is good on much larger maps and where towns are much much bigger and are able to support multiple vehicles being spawned at a time. A good example of this is Chernarus where multiple vehicles can spawn in just one city.

6) This isn't the case in my opinion. As it stands, it seems that a high-powered sniper rifle can do high damage to a vehicle and potentially destroy it before it reaches their location. I can see aimbotters having a field day with this as the car basically acts as a giant hitbox.

7) This comes hand-in-hand with "1)".

8) Again, comes hand-in-hand with "1)".

I totally agree with the bads, but hey hopefully they do listen to the "community" or they come up with these ideas soon. I only drove the striker for like 20 seconds, like i said some guy shot at the car and i took all the damage. I really think they have potential but lets see how long it takes for them to fix the issues. I find myself having more fun with the game in general. It seems like they're getting better with updates/patches.

Yeah adding realistic damage would be great. Like ERASERHEAD mentioned about shooting out the tires. I also noticed i can push a car when walking towards it lol. Def very glitchy.

I wouldn't be worried if you did try to insult me. In fact, I'm very happy that my post compelled you to back up your initial comment of vehicles being a joke with absolutely no explanation as to what makes you think that. Validating your critique opens up a dialogue worth some merit, so thank you for defending your convictions on these forums which are plagued with people who do not.

I am certainly confused by your opening rebuttal, as you begin by saying the map is big enough to necessitate vehicles but then go on to say that bikes would have been better because the map is too small. Unless you are referring to actual pedal bikes like a mountain bike I don't see how this makes any sense. Motorcyclists use the same roads automobiles use and achieve the same (and in some cases higher) speeds/acceleration. It would certainly be fun to have a biker gang and probably be easier to balance in the game, but the direction they went is more logical, especially when considering number of passengers. If they can iron out all the issues with these vehicles I would love to see motorcycles in the future.

As far as how easy they are to destroy, that can be easily fixed by changing some values around. They are still new to the game, and this is a much easier fix than the crashing and lag caused by the vehicles themselves. Furthermore, I would never want to see a developer reluctant to add a feature out of fear that a hacker/cheater could exploit it. While this game's track record with hackers/cheaters/glitchers has been horrible (to say the least) in the past, the problem has gotten significantly better. The people who still play the game know this. If the concern was high enough to detract devs from adding features the best solution would be to add another layer of cheat detection on top of what they already have.

I echo your sentiments completely and whole heartedly about the repair kits being in the marketplace. As a matter of fact, I predicted this in many posts on their forums before being unexpectedly banned from them. The good thing at least is that like most of the market place items now the repair kit and gasoline are able to be purchased with in game currency and not GC. Still, the game and its item economy would have benefited more from not having a market place at all.

Vehicles spawing in every town does not mean they spawn in every location on the map. Again, some more testing and hopefully they can strike a balance. I would be interested in knowing what the total vehicle spawn count is on the map, so if anyone can answer that please reply.

If they leave vehicles in their current state then it will all be for nothing. There are obvious problems that need to be addressed and fixed. The devs I'm sure know this, and constructive community feedback would inevitably speed up that process.

It's interesting to me that you gravitated towards dissecting just the 'good' part of my original post. It therefore leads me to ascertain that you agreed with everything the 'bad' and the 'ugly' mention. What are your thoughts on those?
