Infestation: New Beginning - What Do We Know So Far ?
Just wanted to semi officially combine all bits of information, facts and also answer to rumors and questions regarding "new experimental experience".
First of all - why we don't call it "new game". Well primary reason is that because while this "thing" is an evolution of the ISS, it still uses some of the art assets from the existing game, and it does more feel like "ISS as it supposed to be released back in 2012" than a completely new game.
1) What is it ?
It's standalone version of the game that requires players to download new client and create new account. This version of the game is FREE for existing ISS players.
It's being developed by separate team than one working on ISS. So we continue to support existing ISS game.
2) Why all those changes can't be just applied to the existing game ?
This one is simple. At some point, we've realized that to implement everything we want, we'll have to basically wipe all accounts, and more important - we'll have to kill some of the game mechanics that our existing players love. And we don't want to do that - ISS is a pretty popular game right now, so it'll be suicide for a game just take away from players everything they have.
What about all GC and GD I've accumulated ?
We're actively discussing this right now. Several options that either allow to transfer or better "clone" GC/GD up to certain amount are being discussed.
I'm Legendary/Pioneer player - will I get any nice bonus ?
Yes, Pioneers and Legendary players will get early access to new game/build. Just as you've had priority access to alpha of WarZ back in October 2012 :)

I'm late to party - how I can get early access to this ?
Everyone who bought at least $10 worth of GC in a past few months will get early access
YET - early access doesn't mean that somebody will accumulate lots of goodies. This is ALPHA of the new game and there'll be WIPE before all players will be able to access game
3) New Character creation and customization
Instead of several characters that you need to buy, there'll be one character with multiple individual cosmetic customization options - which will be unlockable for GD or GC. Face masks/NVGs will be separate from helmets, so you'll be able to wear both.
4) GC Revive is out
Revive will be instant and early revive for GC will be removed from the game. It's being discussed what will happen to player once he'll be revived, one of the discussed options is to teleport him/her to closest safe zone.
5) Skills will be redone
Skills as they exist right now will be removed from the game, and open discussion will be open with players regarding future skill tree.
6) Marketplace is GONE
Marketplace will be removed from the game and main menu. We'll introduce new "packages" store that will sell "bundles" of cosmetic items or boosts at discount. Our goal here is simple - remove Marketplace that sells individual in game items such as armor, ammo, etc. also we're going to sell "Charity" items - ie whatever you players will spend on those items ( totally non power cosmetic items ) will go to charity.
7) Global Inventory
Access to Global Inventory will be removed from the main menu. you will be only able access Global Inventory at safe zones. Size of the Global Inventory will be restricted, yet for hoarders we'll allow them to buy additional slots.
8) Helmet pop-off functionality will be either removed or severely nerfed.
9) No zoom aim in third person view
10) Third person view will only allow not accurate "server based" shooting, no crosshair in third person
11) Players Driven Economy
Instead of Marketplace, we introduce "Survivors Exchange" - kinda store meet stock exchange UI where players can sell items and buy items that other players sold. Supply of the items will depends on what other players have sold. Prices for sell/buy will depends on supply/demand ratio.
12) We'll actively monitor Exchange to make sure it's not being abused. We also introduce new methods of tracking items, which will allow us to identify people who cheat to get betst guns for resale, dupers, etc.
13) Locker boxes will not be available in the game at start.
14) Missions will be not be available in a game at start. They will be redesigned.
15) New Map
There'll be new map, it's size will be same as V1 Colorado, yet setting will be different. Map will be more populated with buildings, farms, etc. We'll also have more safe zones. One of the cool features is lots of small "camps/cabins" around the world with loot and zombies.
16) Vehicles repair
Vehicles will need to be repaired before use, both tools and car parts will be required. There'll be no need to spend GD to "repair" car.
17) GD Repair is GONE
All repairs will require tools and "parts". There'll be no GD repairs and there'll be no need to find work bench to repair item.
18) Weapons will be upgradable, which will increase their resale value.
19) Private Servers
We're reworking Private Servers functionality. So renting private servers will be disabled in a first couple months. We'll introduce new additional regions like Brazil for servers. We'll keep server rental costs low - as we always did. Ie I- we're not going charge same crazy prices as Arma3, Dayz, Battlefield 4 - for cost of those servers please check http://gameservers.com.
We plan on having costs under $0.5 per slot ( ie 100 slot server - around $50 ).
20) Trading UI will still be there.
21) WOW !!!! MEGA FEATURE !!!

22) Stronghold servers will be removed from the game.
23) Scary sounds will be back. Sound "scheme" of the game will be redesigned
24) Day/night colors will be redesigned.
Game will be somewhat playable at night without need on having NVG, yet NVG will greatly improve comfort.
25) Overgrowth will be gone - not because of FPS :) issues, but because it's not belong to new visual setting :)
26) Weapons spawns will be SUPER RARE for any decent gun. And yes we're exploring home brew craftable guns ideas.
27) Premium Accounts will be gone.
