sounds like the right thing to do
since most people's boxes was not going to handle california as big as it was full of players and zombies
so something had to give...
so its good they looked at the telemetry collected, saw that and truncated it to the best of california
instead of filling it with player / loot / zombie spawn and only having people with $5+ boxes and 1GB internet connections being able to play it...
anyways colorado v2 is a good size, sounds like the new version will be great addition.
otherwise it would be pretty empty anyways with little chance of running into group of people, and not be able to handle as many players and zombies and it would crawl for most people... plus the server requirements and client requirements and internet requires would be quite unreasonable.
dice has learned the same thing. if u look at their giant maps they are not all that giant cause of the same problem there is so much cpu/gpu/internet bandwidth that the average player has. so u cant make a game for the $5k+ boxes since it would exclude 99% of the players... even asking people to have 8gb boxes is a challenge since lots of people have older 4gb boxes...
and then the problem becomes the internet bandwidth required for all the stuff that would go on in so big of a world... and it puts a lot more requirements on the server to push packets based on which area a person is relative to other area. bit of proessing that would have to be going on x times a second for each player to cheack if they are within range to get a packet.
anyways cant wait for new california to be added to lineup
so much for development being over like some who hate/dont play the game have been posting
strongholds would not make sense at all in standalone version since it would just be empty map no other players and no zombies
standalone is just that you vs the zombies (pve)
perhaps they will add coop which would be you couple friends and the zombies, but they have not said this and that would take a good bit more work since you would have to self host...
it would basically require mob spawnpoints to be added...
why dont u suggest it in official forums. these forums they basically dont see our posts...
post a long to the thread and i bet others will support it...
