Then there are combat art runes, these can be consumed to raise the skill level of combat arts. Every character class has its own set of combat art runes and only they can be consumed by that class. They can be smithed in armor or weapon slots to add their secondary effects when the items they where smithed in are equipped. They can also be traded with a combat art master for other runes that are more usefull to your character class.
And lastly, there are trophies. These are also consumable, but only if you have choosen the skill alchemy. They can give temporary stat boosts like additional crit chance.

May I take the occasion to tell you that I had come across your Wiki page that is very well-made and came handy already to check the location of a couple of tasks I was having some issues to find.
Thank you again for your thorough explanation; this game now seems to be way more complex - and harder as well, I have found out the same enemies now that I am at level 12 are much tougher than before, at least today I have been dying more often than when I was at the beginning - than I thought so apparently there is a lot of stuff to learn or me yet.
