I am looking for one too.

The game is no longer supported for online play, or atleast not through steam, your best bet is to find a Retailer that sells the game with the CD key :L
I picked it up on a humble bundle because I heard it had good local coop (my brothers been down since his computer died) Finding out that the PC version doesn't have this feature is a real downer, and the fact that its unsupported in regular multiplayer is just disappointing

There is probably some LAN emulation somewhere out there, but it'd be a pain to find it. Argh.

I've heard that tungle is able to Lan the game, might work with hamachi aswell
I'm not looking for LAN. I figured the greyed out Co Op mode meant local co-op (which is in the console versions) Sadly it looks like I'm out of luck

Para jugar en lan no necesitas ninguna key, puedes jugar usando tunngle ;)

weno y entonces que diferencia hay en tenerlo original o copia? Me siento estafado que hayan cerrado el servidor en 2012!

same question to valve. where is activation key in my game?

The servers are closed put you can still play lan but if you want to play online you can download tunngle
just install create an account and search for "sacred 2" network
Tunngle works well with this. You can join to sacred 2 tunngle server and find random people to play with or you can create own private lan network and play with your friend. A lot of fun.

PS: and remember to install community patch!

I've used Hamachi for years and tunngle before this, and this was by far the easiest. It's actually an IM client/social network for gamers, similar to Xfire, and to use lan in any game that supports it with someone over the internet, you just install the IM client, add each other, then right click their name in your buddy list and 'Create a party'. As long as you're in the party, you and anyone else should appear to each other for LAN play in any game supporting that option. I definitely recommend it over hamachi or tunngle for ease of setup, use, and compatibility with games.

I've already tried running it with evolve however it seems that's not working, tungle is your best bet if you want to play online.
