Sacred 2 Gold Multiplayer Tunngle problems.
Hi guys, I'm brand new to steam and it's community yet I'd like to join in with the sacred 2 community in particular :).

I have trawled through the "forums" and despite having seen regularly "use hamachi" (closed down 2010 apparently and was taken over by logmein which appears to be a completely useless service for what we need, could be mistaken but it's not giving off a good vibe lol) or "use tunngle" Well, I've tried repeatedly to get tunngle to work and I just cannot seem to have any joy whatsoever. I'm looking for some direct help if possible, I'm not exactly a computer idiot (though I feel like one right now if I'm honest lol) but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with regards to LAN freeware. I've tried searching for help with regards to how to get tunngle to work and seem to be clutching at straws, which are then taken from me at every turn. After 3 hours of relentlessly trying to get this to work, my friend and I still have had no luck. So now I'm turning to you :)

If someone can please give me some clear instructions as to what exactly I need to do it would be greatly appreciated as we just bought this game to play together (I play ps3, he plays 360) got sick and tired of the console difference so came here lol!

Also, would there be any way to use tunngle to create our own and have 2 player Co-op as well?

Thanks in advance,

Sam.

After downloading and installing Tunngle, you have to create a free Account to login.
Once logged in,you are able to browse the different "rooms" inside the Tunngle client or search for a specific one (like the Sacred 2 room).

Everyone you have to play with has to be in the same Tunngle room, one guy hosts and the rest shouldn't have any problems to join the game under the LAN tab ingame.

You don't have to play in that room, let's say because you don't want other people to join your game and are too lazy to set a password, just join an empty gameroom (like Solitaer or PokerNight) with your buddy(s) and you're set.

Hope that helps

Hi Kosher, thanks for your reply mate. I actually managed to solve the problem, it was an issue with my firewalls. Seems to be a rather common issue, was able to resolve that in the end lol there was another one though, with us being on windows 8 we have had to open up in administrator to help with actually getting it to work, once that was finally solved the rooms were surprisingly simple! Hoping to get some time to come on later and join some of you guys :) need to get some more levels first ;p nobody wants a brand new toon in their game haha!

Sam.

Good to hear that this solved itself, happy gaming!

Glad to hear there are still some online players floating around :). My friend and I should be joining you guys shortly; just waiting to see if the game drops down to 75% before the sale is over. I wonder what the chances of that are?

I'm no psychic or oracle but in my opinion, the chances are close to zero.It was 9,99 during Wintersale and is currently 9,99 too,so the price won't drop further.Good luck tho :P

Damn, in that case, I may just try to get my DLgamer copy to work; kind of nice having it attached to my steam account though since that's where most of my other stuff is. Plus, it was a pain in the ♥♥♥ getting the copy from DLgamer to install properly last time, but hopefully I'll have better luck. In any case, thanks for the info :).

Sacred 2 Gold has some small issues installing even with steam on windows 7/8 but they're relatively easy to solve to be completely honest. I suppose it's down to you what getting the game is worth ;p I love it personally. Been playing S2 on Ps3 for over a year, must admit it's a massive learning curve on pc lol well worth it though. Not just for all the lovely features mostly just because EVERYTHING WORKS!!!! lol If you do join, hit me up we'd be happy to play with you ^_^

Well, I finally took the plunge and bought a couple of copies for my friend and I. I'll probably start playing soon, but I've been trying to figure out what all I need (like which patches, best camera settings, etc--I forgot most of that stuff).

I was also confused if I should start my character with the single player campaign, or if I should do it in "LAN" mode. I made him in LAN originally, and then when I tried to play him in single player, it gave me a message that said my progress in single player wouldn't be saved, so that my multiplayer progress wouldn't be changed, or something like that. Is there any real difference between playing in multiplayer/lan all the time, versus single player, or can you do everything in both of them? If so, I'll probably just stick to LAN mode whenever I play, so my friend and I can keep the same progress. I just didn't want to miss out on some of the story or something, if I stick to LAN mode.

Sorry if that's confusing; I couldn't think of how to word it, heh. I just want to know if playing in LAN is essentially the same as playing single player.

And skc, as soon as we get everything set up, maybe we can do some co-op at some point :). I still haven't messed with Tunngle yet, but hopefully it shouldn't be too hard for us to figure out.

Heya seilan, if you have issues with tunngle I might be able to help having done it recently. Basically, you're going to need to play single player campaign at some point. Reason for this is you can't do your class quest on a multiplayer campaign.

Essentially,LAN is the same as playing SP.However, there are certain quests that will not work on LAN servers.

The Blind Guardian concert, the Yoda/Lightsaber Questline and your characters Classquest to name 3 (there may be more but i doubt it's more than 10,if you are using the Community patch that is].

You aren't really missing out on the Concert but the Class-Questline is nice to get more on your background & motivations.

Missing any of those will not lower the fun you will have in COOP but it may come handy to play 1 toon LAN only and start a new one (or the same) for SP only [so you can say "k,i've seen everything on that toon]

Ah ok, so basically, it's a good idea to play your character twice if you want to do everything--once in singple player and once in multi. So I guess we keep seperate progress in both modes, even while on the same character? Like if I get to a certain part of the game while in single player, then start at the beginning in multiplayer, when I come back to single player will my progress be where I left off earlier, and vice versa? I'd test it myself but I haven't had much access to my gaming computer for the last few days.

Thanks for the info guys, and I may take you up on that help skc, if I run into any problems with Tunngle.

How does installing the CM Patch affect LAN gameplay with others that perhaps havent installed the CM Patch?
Seilan Jul 23, 2013 @ 7:45pm
Good question, would be interested to know that as well.

as far as i know,it prevents playing with people that do not have the patch. However, you can easily uninstall and reinstall the patch. It won't hurt your character data as far as im told but backups wouldn't hurt either
