Beware! Sacred 2 is bugged bugged bugged!
Guys, Ascaron Entertainment (the guys who made this game) are insolvent since 2009. No development of the game since. And it has many bugs. If you are playing singleplayer, you might be fine. But trying to play multiplayer will be a problem for most of the users. Trust me, I tried to play on multiple systems with different hardware. Multiplayer (even over LAN) was always full of crashes and bugs. Sacred 2 _is_ undoubtly a great game ... if there weren't these immense bugs and crashes.

Of course there are some bugs for many years which will never get fixed... But many of them was fixed with latest Community Patch 1.40! And multiplayer games works also fine for me without this patch! So this game is playable with some bugs and I enjoy this like many other ARPG-fans! Even in multiplayer!
And please show me a large game like this without bugs!

No,i do not trust you since many people (including me) are playing just fine without any problems or gamebreaking bugs via Multiplayer.

Ok, I have some machines here with different OS. Which OS do you use and what kind of graphic-card? I will give it a try. Perhaps I find a close match and eventually could play this game ... (sorry for bad english, I am from germany).

I have/had also some different machines with different OS and multiplayer works fine in every case! There are some known problems... but mp (LAN) is not included!
The biggest problem for me (memory leak) was caused by Xfire overlay! (the same issue for me with Skyrim)

Pick one,fine Sir:
WinXp SP3 on AMD 64 3000+ with a Radeon 9800 Pro, 2gb ram (it works,but plays meh..)
Win7 x64,Phenom I x4 3ghz,Radeon 6870,4gb ram
Win7 x64,Phenom II x4 3,2ghz,Radeon 4850,4gb ram

All these Machines can connect/host/play with each others locally or via tunngle with others, the XP one does not perform well when playing AND hosting together tho

You are right with "buggy mess" if you talk about the retail disc version, that one can really be a pain to install right/patch/make it work at all,so youre not really wrong in that case.
However, the Steam version works like a charm (removing silly DRM can do wonders)

Works fine on my end, no issues what so ever and i am currently pushing 170 hours played ( both single and multiplayer )

Even my retail version never had any issues lol, I know it's not just me that is fine, many of my friends ( new thanks to you guys ) are fine too, my family members are fine and never having any issues, the other computer in this house....no issues.

And every single rig you just listed is old as hell...update and build a new rig you own't have any issues i bet.

Still tweaking Elite Textures, other than that, the game is much more stable with Steam/Community patch IMHO..

If you would have spend more time reading what i wrote, you may have come to the conclusion that i do not have any problems whatsoever.Instead, you just come by,leave a semi-unrelated message and walk away.Try to fight the urge to comment everything (or stop doing it half-♥♥♥♥♥).No offense, tho

Yes, thats true, this game is veeery bugged, never played S2 without bugs or problems even in MP!!
hellCAT Jan 15, 2013 @ 2:23pm
Well, this is not an official survey, but i got the clue that me and my gf being "the only ones" having problems with S2 (or _had_ problems, coz we didnt play for a while). I never used the community patch, but we had the latest (and "final") official patch. And we had crashes back to desktop with our Dell Alienware Laptops (only in Multiplayer) and other machines from Dell. Although Ascaron claimed that the game was developed on and for Alienware, this might be the major problem after all.

So thanks guys, for all the feedback. You gave me new courage to give this (if not crashing) great game a new chance ... :)

it is worth the hassles bro. it really is

Ladies and gents, The game does have some issues and does tend to crash right out of the blue. So far I haven't been able to figure out exactly what makes it crash but have seen it crash usually when on my "mount-horse". A couple of times when the game saves after finishing the quests up, it also crashes and closes out as well. So yes it does have some bugs. Those bugs as I am sure everyone knows will NOT be fixed since the game is no longer supported. My suggestion is to simply try to play the game and if it crashes then just reload it.

I think the OP is little exagerant, I've got about 4 hours played and have crashed to the desktop once while opening the map. Sucks losing a little progess but the game does a good job of saving often and this is deffinitly NOT a game I would list as buyer beware, infact I would recommend this to anyone.

Going to try turning off the ingame AA features and force it through nvidia control panel to see if it is a little bit more stable.

Great game though!
Heinrich6745 Jan 15, 2013 @ 4:06pm
There is a save button you know...F7 i remapped mine to F9 though, it got too confusing going from Sacred 1 and other games that is F9 to S2 where it's F7 ( which conflicts with relic hotkeys fyi..same with F5 which conflicts with weapon slot 5 )

I don't really crash so idk why others have issues. :/
