Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred 2 Gold

How to make the font a bit more readible!
UPDATE: Much easier font size fix-see post 4 here. All you have to do is unzip it into the game files pak folder.
http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/22243-is-there-a-mod-fix-for-the-font-size/
You need to sign up to the forum to download the file though.

For those who still don't like the font size and want to try other fonts here's the lengthy way of doing it:

The first thing you can try is
1. Set AA to x2 or x4 AND/OR
2. change resolution to 1280.x1024

This mod replaces the defualt font with the font from Torchlight.

The first thing we'll need is the Torchlight font file, of course. This is hosted over at the Runic Games fansite. RGF has permission to distribute this file as long as no one makes a profit off of it. http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/Torchlight%20Regular.ttf

The next thing we need to do is tell Sacred 2 to use the new font-Note, while you can use any font you like, not every font is going to work. Sacred 2's UI was designed to work with consoles. Unless you're running it on a large screen and at a high resolution, you're going to have trouble with the font and with scaling. It sucks but this is the best alternative i've managed to find.

go to your S2 folder and open up the locale folder and the en_UK folder.
Paste your new font into this directory.
I highly suggest you now copy the ListFontGroups.xml and keep that file safe in case of any stuff up.

Open ListFontGroups.xml using Notepad++
It will look like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

<suixml version="0.0.1.0">

<!-- the Name-Attribute must be the internal font name -->

<Fonts>
<Font Name="Torchlight Regular" File="Torchlight Regular.ttf"/>
<Font Name="Torchlight Regular" File="Torchlight Regular.ttf"/>
</Fonts>

<!-- here you can use symbolic/aliased names for fonts -->

<FontGroups>
<FontGroup Name="CaptionFontGroup">
"Torchlight Regular"
</FontGroup>
<FontGroup Name="TextFontGroup">
"Torchlight Regular"
</FontGroup>
</FontGroups>

</suixml>

(Thanks to ⺈ĐꚆѓøčĶ῭Ǭج৴. for clarification of instructions)

Save that and your ready to go. Hope this helps!
Credit for this method goes to the folks over on the Darkmatter forum.

If my game is in spanish, can i do it?
You -should- be able to.It's only when your language requires special characters (like Russian) that you wouldn't be able to. It's easy enough to change back, just make sure to back up the file before you make any changes.

My file is not the same. It looks shorter an it says "antiquabold" or something llike that instea of "arialbold" theres no arial in my file. I want to be able to change the font cause it is hard to see specially the object red fonts. (im a bit colorblind :S), and ques font also makes me suffer LOL.

I found this out yesterday and found the free true type font online to be the best - Cacophony Loud.ttf. I'm on a 15" laptop and the old font made the game unplayable. This font is perfect for laptops!
@Dimon Whether it's Arial or Antique, just replace it with the name of whatever font you're using to replace it. @Suryo Thanks for the tip, maybe i'll try that one out next.

Any screenshots of a tiny font in-game? I'm curious as to what it looks like.
This is what it normally looks like http://allsacred.ru/uploads/sacred2/fonts/screenshot_fonts_v.1.0.jpg

Mine looks like this at 1024x768 resolution with the UI scaling turned on and AA turned off.

Ooh, yes, that first one's pretty nasty. Remind me to never run S2 at a lower resolution.

Thank you so much for this totally made this game playable on my tv without sitting 5 feet away haha, you are a real lifesaver. Cheers! :D
I just change the <FontGroup Name="TextFontGroup"> for calibri and I still have the cool cursive default font for menu and readable font for the rest!
