Game crashing on startup? Check here!

Just bought the game on GMG and like a lot of people I was having some trouble trying to get the game to run without crashing. Fortunately I was able to find a fix by scouring the internet! So here's a nice Windows 7 checklist to run off if you're having troubles too.

-Make sure video card drivers are up to date (duh)
-Make sure PhysX driver is up to date
-Go to Sacred 2 Gold/system and set "sacred2.exe" as well as "s2gs.exe" to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3 and run as admin in the properties menu
-Go to your steam library, right click Sacred 2 Gold, click properties, click on "set launch options..." in the general tab. Enter "-skipopenal -nocpubinding" (Without the ") into the text box and press OK
-Install the community patch which can be found here: http://xmas.ancaria.net/patches/cm-patch0140hf.zip
-Go back into "sacred2.exe"'s properties and select "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition" in the compatibility tab

If you have a fix that isn't here please post it! Let's make as many people as we can able to play the game!

I can't get the game to launch and I'm on windows 8. I don't know how to get it to run in compatibility mode for older versions of windows. Anyone help out?

My firewall blocked the program. I use ZoneAlarm. When the screen is black (game is loading) if I tab out, I see that it's being blocked and allow it through the firewall. Then the game loads fine.

I have one question however :
The downloaded patch contains 2 files . Am i right in saying that in order to follow your instructions only the cm-enable.exe needs to be run ?

When should we use cm-disable.exe or what is it for ?

I tried everything of the above, none worked :( I'm running a win 7 64-bit computer, with nvidia graphics (gtx 670) and an intel cpu i5-3570K

Game is from 2008 wasnt made to run on the newer system that simple, most people dont have any problems with it. You can go to any game made forums and you will find people who cant get them to run.

Tried this and it almost worked (win 8.1). Wouldn't even boot before, but after compatibility mode and community patch i can get into the game, but past the main menu the resolution is all messed up (zoomed into what appears to be the top left corner, but in 4:3). So close yet so far.
