respawn edit?

is there a way to decrease the respawn on monsters?
i personally find it annoying when im going to town...exit a cave, move a few feet to the left whatever i killed behind me is back up.
i realize this is good/was good for multiplayer.....but im asking about single player.
ideally they would respawn when i reload the game or 30 minutes after death or some such

What difficulty are you on? more spawns increase with difficulty, or stack my edits on top of the game lol, yes i am still kind of active but i'm away right now doing other things and not ready to fully return yet.
