original off Steam version was epic but insanely bugged and instable - this one fixed?
hi Sacred fans,

can anyone share his experience whether this Steam version is more stable than the off Steam version for PC? The Sacred 2 HD textures did not improve the stability aswell. However I put my my regular version back into shelf. Is this Steam Version fixed?

What is the game version (build) ? Still 2.65.2? Thanks for your replies.

Steam Version is patched to the last retail patchlevel & runs stable [1 crash in 42 hours playtime].Using the HD Textures makes the game wonky again.
Since the somewhat agressive copy protection of the retail game is missing on steam,i'd say Sacred 2 Gold runs flawless.

I can't check on the buildnumber since i use the CM patch

For me the Steam version runs better than the cd version I previously had.
I am also using the community patch 140hf; I am not using any HD textures.
There are two command line parameters you should consider using.
The details are in another thread here - do a search.

But it seems your information at least is not that "kosher" as your name indicates. You do not have Sacred 2 on Steam and there is no 42 hours playtime to see. Why that?

Yes, he does have Sacred 2 on Steam. Do you see the little mouse icon next to his name? That means he owns the game that this discussion board is linked to. The reason the gold edition is not shown on his account - or anyones account - is because Valve hasn't managed to resolve that issue since the gold edition was released on Steam.

Strange... thanks for clarifying that. I just used his account page to check the library.

It is more stable than retail versions but it's still buggy and will crash often - especially during save and load operations like "save and exit" or during area transitions. Also, Steam does not provide the "view product key" option when right-clicking game in library...so don't expect to register for online unless you can still see your key in bottom right boxout.

It's actually right below "Divinity 2" if you view the page following this link.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/King_Kosher/games/
The fact that there is no icon for it may be a bit misleading but as MeisterGlanz pointed out,the mouse icon next to a name is an indication that the person owns the game.

You might have luck if you check Steamtrades.com for it (or any trading place of your preference for that matter) because it was in
http://indiegamebundle.wikia.com/wiki/The_Humble_Deep_Silver_Bundle
and some people stockpiled those

Since the official online-servers are long gone, viewing at your product key would be pointless anyway

I cannot see the game listed for you, sorry. All I see you got several games and Sacred 1 Gold. Sacred 2 is not listed if I head to that link and search for Sacred.

Sacred 2 Gold is listed.
It is the one with no image below Diviity 2.

A little pointless debating whether someone has the game or not no?

it is never pointless to be helpful

Sorry for questioning, but I just want to be sure that he is not just talking stuff. You cannot imagine how many people just talk things on forums without having any clue and if he already said the how many time he spent in the game I was just trying to evaluate this. A crime, insulting, pointless? Hopefully not.

Meanwhile it found the reference. He played S2 Gold for 51 hours so far and I am willing to trust his experience he shared. Thanks for being helpful Kosher!

a few points about that...steam doesn't show time played offline, even when you are online you could have had the game paused for hours and steam would log those as hours played, steam hour logging can be wildly inacurate for certain games - i've had some that I've played for months show up as something ridiculous like 17hrs played and others I've played for maybe 3hrs saying I've played them for 30. Factor in that you may well be playing the game outside of steam altogether or you have multiple steam accounts and it becomes pretty meaningless. Not a criticism..just saying.

In my experience: This version is far more stable.
