Having Issues With GUI...
I've been playing S2 since the day it came out for PC. I've also had many issues with this game. And now that I finally broke down and bought the gold version here on Steam, installed it, went to play it only to find that the GUI has no lettering at all. the start screen, no lettering, item info's, no lettering... I can play the game, but I can't see any Letter's or number's at all.

The only thing I can do at this point is uninstall both my steam version & my S2 Dvd version, Re-download the 13.6 GB of the Steam Version and try again. Unless one of you fine folks here in the forums can help... :~P

I would do a search here, because I know others have had the very same problem.

I was thinking that is may be that I have the S2 DvD version and the Steam Gold Version both on the same machine. I'm going to uninstall the Dvd version and see just what happends... If that don't fix it, I'll do more searching here on these forums...

Thank you for your reply, Lord Fatso.

You are welcome.

And it shouldn't matter. I doubt many of the others have had both before, and the same issue.

But I do know that others have posted more than a few times about this same issue.

Last time I played it was on my win7 laptop, and I had no problems at all. I really should see if anything is different on my new win8 laptop.

I do hope you figure out what is wrong and get it fixed. As you know, this game can be a lot of fun.

I might just go play it on xbox now. (Multiplayer ftw!)

Well, we both may have thought it wasn't the issue, but now that I have uninstalled the DvD version, all seems to be working as it should be.

And from what I'm seeing with the Gold addtion, looks like they did some GUI work, and possibly either better textures or graphix engien. (Yes, this is the 1st run and actual play of this version.) I'm hoping the addtion of the Blood & Ice ex-pack will add some much need new flavor to 1 of the best games I've plaied.

I haven't tried Multiplayer, ever, but you make me think it may be worth trying it, Lord Fatso. Maybe I'll see ya there...

I had the exact same problem. After uninstalling dvd version, everything worked fine and was able to keep and play my saved games. Don't forget to get CM patch...fixes many things.

As for on the xbox, last time I played there were still a few people playing, though the amount of people actually hosting rooms has decreased by quite a lot in the last year or two. A very sad thought.

If you do get it on xbox, hit me on on live @ Lord Fatso. I am always up to play some good ol' S2.
