it's fixed, the recomended don't mean it run. without knownwing yours specs, some times your graphic card is incompatible, also your os is need, it was made to windows xp, and not meant to work perfecty on windows vista 7 and 8, and as far i know some game don't work correctly on windows 8 without you moving the sticks

Ah. I see. It does specify the OS on the store page. It's a shame I bought this game then.

Runs on Win 7 64bit. At least for me. It's an older game so it's possible not all new hardware and software works with this game. Also it would help if you provided some info on what you are using and how the game "doesn't run". Does it simply not start up, do you get any error messages, have you googled the issue, etc etc?

Yeah... I got it to work by using compatibility mode. It wasn't running at all.

Can confirm that it runs just fine on Windows 8 64bit. Although i did have to install PhysX manually from the sacred 2 redistributle folder from the steamapps directory. Have you tried launching the game directly using the sacred 2 exe file from the steamapps folder?

I hear you, OP. The game is much better, but still pretty flakey. (I partly blame Creative Labs.)

I will say this: I used to run XP Pro/32 on this exact same hardware, and Sacred was solid as a rock. So honestly I can't fault them on that. With Win 7 Ultimate, it's not. The Gold version was supposed to fix Win7 compatibility, and it only got me halfway to stable. I feel a little bit screwed. Which is nothing new, really, when I think about the various crap video games I've bought in the past. At least I know I like this one. :)

But I've seriously thought about building a standalone XP box just to play Sacred. Is that sad?

when getting this game to run its hit or miss i've noticed. on my win7 laptop i have the game installed from Disc and it runs without a hitch, but i also have a Radeon GPU so Nvidia PhysX isnt installed by default.

on my bros old windows vista tower it worked the first time off the bat from the steam installation without any issue, but after he reformatted it wouldnt run at all. all i would get is "failled to launch game, Unknown Error"

on his new Win8.1 tower, i took some configuring but i have it running on there, however i did noticed it skipped the PhysX setup on the first time setup when i ran it for the first time.

the best answer i could give someone is make sure you uninstall your PhysX before installing this game, let it install its redist, then reupdate PhysX to the current version again.

Game works perfectly fine on my Windows 8.1 x64 machine. Just install, then run it.

Also, I can confirm it works on W7 (my old OS) and Vista (my old computer) too.

Fix your PC first.

I should also point out, the original devs of this game went out of business and were bought out years ago. No official patch will ever be forthcoming.

Game runs great for me on windows 7 64.

^^ It took adding a 750 ti as Physx for my 780 to max this with little fps drop, but the game sails...

Yea, only with Physx can you be excited about maxing a 6 year old game on a higher end GPU. =/ Wonder why we don't see more Physx games. ;)

I had to open task manager and end the sacred 2 task and restart the game three times, before it worked (Win8 64bit, lenovo laptop).

Can you be more specific about what you did? My fps is quite choppy...

Please note addressing the Devs to fix this game is useless. the Devs of the game (Ascaron) got bought out years ago. The company that bought the Sacred franchise (Deep Silver) may be offering the game still on Steam, but there is no development or support for it.
