This title gets a very mixed review from me. I've been a huge Duke fan since the first games, right through to Forever, but Duke Nukem 3d has always had a special place in my gaming history. I'll lay this out nice and simple;
Great game, average porting with lots of bugs here and there, but nothing serious enough to stop you from playing and enjoying. The best part however, is that they include the classic DOSBOX emulated version, and a new, modernized experience for Windows + WASD + Mouse players.
DOSBOX version: The game itself gets a definite YES from me. Duke Nukem 3D, and its expansions are full of blood, guns, guts, humour and babes, the classic Duke formula which leaves you with a hilarious and action-filled experience. You might wish to change the keys however, to their defaults in the setup, as the developers, for some reason, have decided to put a WASD control scheme in place in a game that used arrow keys and generally did not use the mouse (although it is supported).
The modernized Duke version: Definitely a step up for those who want a modern experience. Aiming is a bit funny (input lag and inconsistent tracking) but it is playable. There are also various bugs such as various resolution issues, the rendering plane cutting off at the top and bottom of the screen when looking up and down, and a few other minor embuggerances. Overall, the bugs are not enough to stop the fun.
Caribbean Vacation is DEFINITELY worth a play. A light hearted and awesome take on Dukes vacation to the Caribbean. I loved this mod in the 1990s, and I still love it today, definitely worth a play.
Nuclear Winter: An interesting Duke expansion, not as content-rich as Caribbean, but still worth playing. Feels a bit more like an average-quality fan-made mod at times, but still enjoyable for those wishing to prolong the Duke Experience.
Duke it out in D.C.: Less new content than the two mods above, and more or less a series of new maps, but still an enjoyable experience.
Bugs aside, 5/5 from me. A top game and a classic shooter with lots of fun, guts and humour.
