Attempted, yes. Gotten more than a few feet, no.

Literally impossible on LA Meltdown, the first drop guarantees damage. The other expansions, in theory, could be possible. But attempting it probably wouldn't get you far. You'd have to duck in and out of cover a lot and it would be a very slow process. If you do it on "Damn, I'm good", then many props to you and make sure to record it because that would be interesting to watch.

well I do know that the huge drop is scripted damage, no escaping that. the only thing that even comes remotely close to a No-Damage run, was completing the Ghost Hideout mission in "Rage". And that was because I managed to lure those bandits out one-by-one and Wingstick them to death, and stealth-kill a few with spiked fists from behind.

besides, I got the idea for this thread after some guy on YouTube was ballsy enough to do a No-Damage run of "Dead Space" on the Impossible Difficulty.

Wow, that's insane. I think it would be possible to do on a level by level basis, but doing it all in one go would be too difficult with too many random factors.

well IdSoftware games are somewhat easy to figure out, again, if you come fully prepared and had tons of practice. but the No-Damage "Dead Space" run i've watched, the tactics that were used did help me beat it on Hard.

but i've never seen a No-Damage run od "Duke Nukem 3D" yet, despite several areas where scripted damage is bound to take place

Hm, other than the damage you take in Hollywood Hollocaust, I've found ways to get through all of episode 1 but now I'm stuck on The Abyss. I can use a glitch to use an exit you're not supposed to, but the only thing it does is lead you to "Faces of Death" (http://www.3drealms.com/duke3d/walkthrough/e1m7.html if you don't know what that is). I'm stuck, apparently there's an exit in the level somewhere, but I can't find it even when clipping through walls.

I didn't even know you could get there in single-player mode, let alone existed

I've known about a glitched exit in The Abyss for awhile now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXmS_uEWSNo this is the guy who discovered the glitch to use the exit without using dnclip. But I never knew the possibilities on where it would send you. If you don't complete the other secret level it takes you through that one first then sends you back to The Abyss. If you try to use the glitched exit a second time then it sends you to Faces of Death.

Unfortunately, because you're basically guaranteed to take damage on the first boss it seems damageless is impossible for episode 1. By the way, if anyone at general arcade sees this glitch, please don't patch it, the glitch doesn't harm anyone's experience and is a cool trick to show others.

ah, I always knew about that exit after having experimented with the DNCLIP cheat, and that was after completing the Launch Facility secret level.

So what you're saying is, is that if I bypass the secret exit on the Toxic Dump level and access it from "The Abyss" the first time (just before the Battlelord boss fight), taking you to Launch Facility from there, only to return back to The Abyss, try to access the exit again, then you're taken to "Faces of Death"?

If that can be pulled off in the Megaton Edition, should be interesting (and maybe an achievement just for reaching it)

The level "Death Row" has you losing health the moment you start since you start on an electric chair.

So I just fooled around with it a bit more to figure out exactly how it works. Whether you do Launch Facility after Toxic Dump or not is actually irrelevant. No matter if you do it or not, after using the secret exit on The Abyss you will always be taken to Launch Facility first, after beating it you're taken to The Abyss again, then after using the secret exit a second time you will be taken to Faces of Death.

It can indeed be done in Megaton Edition. Cool thing to do, would make a sweet achievement I agree.

I actually discovered a glitch a month or two ago that lets you skip all of Death Row. You go from Red Light District, keep all your stuff, and go straight to Toxic Dump. That saved me from taking damage in that level. The initial drop in Hollywood Hollocaust I couldn't find a way past without taking damage, then we have the issue of The Abyss.

actually, when you start the Death Row level on the electric chair, if you're fast enough, you can get off the chair without taking any damage. Oh, and the one PigCop inside that little room right there at the start? if you're standing at the right angle from outside the door, you can kick him to death without any damage (again, if you're at the right angle and are fast enough)

Just make the challenge about not taking damage from enemies. "problem" solved.

But if you count the first boss as an enemy, you're still hooped. Unless you can beat him without taking damage and I'm just misinformed.

I've resigned myself to the fact that my gaming skills are somewhat mid-level. But with that in mind, and my awareness of the greatness of some gamers, I think I'd possibly pay money to see that.
