How to run Mods/TCs with Megaton
You can download TCs/Mods/Addons whatever from websites such as :
http://dukertcm.com/
http://www.moddb.com/games/duke-nukem-3d/mods
http://dukerepository.com/

All files from the TCs or Addons should be placed in the gameroot folder. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Duke Nukem 3D\gameroot is the location of it for me.

If you downloaded the TC/Addon from the links above, make sure it doesn't say something like "Requires eduke32" as it will not work with Megaton.

In the (zip) folder, there should be a bat file or something similar. WGSpace Episode for example has a .bat file that includes:
duke3d.exe -xWGGAME.CON -gWGS.GRP

Copy -xWGGAME.CON -gWGS.GRP and right click Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition in your library and then Properties. Choose Set Launch Options and then put in -xWGGAME.CON -gWGS.GRP.

Launch the game and it should launch the Mod. Make sure you try all the Duke episodes before complaining that it doesn't work. The episode names are currently hard coded in Megaton so you won't see any change there, same with difficulty levels but the level names should hopefully be different.

Mods that don't work with Megaton:
Duke Nukem 64 Mod
Duke Nukem Forever 2013
Duke Plus
WGRealms 2 (It's standalone anyway)
War of Attrition
AMC TC
...There are more that will be listed if found...

Yep, as long as you don't want to play any mod that came out in the last decade.

TX is right, if you want to play the pretty cool DNF mod then you need to use eduke32.
TX [EDuke32] 2 ago 2013, ore 22:01
Yeah, it's certainly needed for the DNF mod... or WGR2, or Attrition, or Duke Plus, or Duke Nukem Eternity, or the Duke Nukem 64 mod, or any newer usermap using room-over-room features, or the HRP, or Blood TC, or Sonic the Hedgehog 3D, or any of that other good stuff the community has been cranking out. You might want to edit this thread to explicitly clarify that this is only capable of running vintage mods, e.g things made for Duke3D 1.3D and 1.5, before the original EDuke came out in 2000.

Most of the newer stuff doesn't even say that it requires EDuke32, it just comes with eduke32.exe because that's the only option.

can you just rename duke3d to eduke32?

That won't work. The point behind the eduke32 requirement is that the exe is actually different, containing features that aren't present in the usuak eduke32.

That said, couldn't one just simply add eduke32 as a non-steam shortcut?

Where is the folder to put custom maps into, on Mac? I've been looking around the forums & guides and can't seem to find the answer.

"~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Duke Nukem 3D/gameroot/maps/"

There's no Steam folder there. =\

I found it. The problem was, it's in the Library folder in my user folder, except it's hidden from view for some reason. I got to it by clicking Go > holding Option and clicking Library. Now I've made an alias to it on the desktop so I can easily get to it in the future.

Hey, i would like to make some maps, but i know nothing about it, i have some great map or expansions ideas but i don't know how or where to start, is it really that hard

I ditto the above guy. If this is the wrong place to ask, blame him though. I'm just dittoing him. lol, joking around there.

I'd like to make maps too.. This question would probably make the most sense as a new separate thread though maybe.. I mean, more people might see the question that way, and maybe it'd get more discussion without making this thread too overly long. I apologize if I'm overthinking this.

EDIT: I guess it does fall under this general topic though. This thread currently doesn't have too many posts, but eventually it could get very long.. Sorry I haven't slept. Last edit lol.
