Plug and Pray - Duke Nukem Total Meltdown Episode 4
So, what's the deal with this lost chapter, Plug and Pray? It was my favorite to play as a kid. Are there liscensing issues or is 3D Realms just too lazy to port it over to the PC version? Is there any user made version that anybody knowns of? I'd love to play it again. I'm surprised it's not in the Megaton version.

The files were simply lost to Plug and Pray and no one has discovered how to get the map files out of it due to the maps being stored differently to the PC version.

I think there is a user made version that was released recently, it's recreated rather than ported and I think it lacks the new graphics.

http://forums.duke4.net/topic/6770-plug-and-pray-remake/page__view__findpost__p__172588 Here it is. I would say it is a bit lacking but it is the best we have at the moment (also will NOT work with Megaton).

Don't be surprised if the linked TC eventually gets pulled. Every time in the past that an attempt has been made to recreate Plug and Pray, it's been slapped with a cease and desist. The episode was an exclusive to the PS1 Duke 3D and the copyright holder did not want it rereleased, and any re-creation attempt was branded infringement. Threads on the official duke forums were regularly terminated with a simple "No" or "Never".

It's not a case of "Lost Episode", it's a case of "Blood" all over again.
AMAZING!!

It is good to hear there are some talented people that are still interested in that episode. Back when the Megaton Edition came out I managed to acquire a copy of Total Meltdown and play the first two levels before I got my Duke playthrough derailed by Starcraft and then Jagged Alliance and then Legend Of Grimrock... And I could also witness first hand the complexity of the maps and just how much of an herculean task it would be to recreate them from scratch.

But I recall having a blast with the Plug N Pray episode. True enough, the first level was insanely difficult, and having to get used to new control scheme didn't help at all, but by the time I reached the second level, the Wipeout parody with the gigantic race track, I was loving the level design.

It's a shame this episode didn't get a wider release. I salute those dedicated modders attempting to port this episode to the fan base it deserves. :tdealwithit:

Edit
I read the whole thread over at Duke4.net and those are fantastic news, Lunick, to think that less than a year ago we were completely in the dark and the PSX code was an utter mess, fast forward to now and they got the maps and porting this baby to the PC, whether as a mod or simple maps, is almost a certainty. This is amazing! I'll keep an eye on this thread, once again, thank you for sharing these links, Lunick!
