Important facts about this game(newbies, give this a look)
The Freezethrower trick: If you can get a pig cop, and if you freeze him over and over again, he can produce multiple shotguns and used armors.

The shrinker trick: If you shoot a Battlelord Sentry(mini-boss version of first chapter boss) in the foot, it will shrink him allowing you to step on him.

The laser trip bomb trick: If you use a laser trip bomb in mid air, it will stop your falling for about 1 full second. Use this to land without hurting yourself.

Do you know this thread is going to be buried very quickly and newbies won't be able to see it?

If I were you I'd make a guide, although there's probably not enough information in that post to justify a guide.

If enough tips could be gathered, a guide would be justified :)

and the OP doesn't know about the Multi-Health trick in MP, where if you freeze an opponent and kick-shatter him, he'll spawn an Atomic Health. Do it enough times, and you'll have crapload of them

Yup, saw your topic about this :)

Is that in Dukematch? I have never seen that happen to a regular enemy

looks like glitch exploits to me, newbies won't be able to learn to play well following this, only learn how to play cheap.

why are dev's not getting rid of these glitches is what should be asked.
KillerKrieg Feb 14, 2014 @ 3:56pm
Um. These are not glitches, this is skill. If the developers didn't want you to be able to shrink battle lord sentries, they wouldn't have programmed it in. Note that there is NO way to shrink certain creatures(like Protector Drones, Pig Cop tanks) So I am pretty damn sure if something is do-able, it is intended to be do-able. With all do respect sir, don't EVER request to change the developers original artistic vision unless it is absolutely necessary to do multiplayer(which I think every game should have) or simply improve the graphics. otherwise next thing you know we'll have re-chargy health and only be able to run 20 feet... and who needs that bs!

" If you can get a pig cop, and if you freeze him over and over again, he can produce multiple shotguns and used armors. "

If this is "skill" then so is typing in dnkroz and claiming to be skilled because you get through a level without taking damage.

I've been playing Duke Nukem 3D since I was a child and what you have listed are "bugs" that should be corrected in modern source ports like Megaton edition. The Developers should be taking a leaf out of the Doom source port community and fix obvious vanilla bugs.

And Multiplayer already has regenerating health. It's called item re-spawns in co-op.

That is not a fair analogy at all. Using a cheat is entirely different than dealing with a live enemy. You have to single one pig cop out usually, lest you get a shotgun blast, and you can only attempt this as many times as you have freeze thrower ammo. If they continue to add multiplayer modes and options(like lives-coop and/or no item respawn) little tricks like these will become critical in lives coop situations in order for you to have a realistic chance to beat an entire chapter in one life. The fourth chapter where you are spammed with enemies you can't shrink will be hard enough even with tricks like this. The Shrink ray was fully intended to be an extremely useful weapon, this only adds to it's usefulness as an alternative to the devastator allowing you to, perhaps more appropriately use the devastator on Assault Commanders as it is more convenient than trying to shrink them and possibly having to fly, and because of this fact again I argue that this was INTENTIONAL. It makes sense that they have shrink proof armor on their body but not on their feet, and with the constraints of the timeline they could not also program the head to do the same thing(or alternatively the helmet they wear has anti-shrink capabilities.) Play the last chapter with only one life, and after you get stepped on by a couple of Protector Drones you'll be happy that there is one more powerful enemy you can shrink.

Also, I did forget to mention that there is only the same chance they will generate an item as if they die. You can very viably run out of freezer ammo on a PC without him generating a single item.

And also... I have to admit, I am pretty suprised you say you've been playing this game since you were a child, yet you never happened upon any of these by accident, let alone being told by a fellow experienced player? o.O
Lord_Dweedle Feb 14, 2014 @ 4:28pm
I don't go out of my way to find exploits. Even as a kid.

It's not how I like to play the game.

Let me put it like this then. The devs should worry about some REAL glitches this game has, things that AREN'T the way they were in the original game. For example, in COOP, how come atomic health is not transferring over from level to level as it should? How come I only seem to be able to take 1 box of pipe bombs? How come, of all things, I only seem to be able to take one laser trip bomb? THAT'S what you should be worried about. I didn't go out of my way at all either, just basic knowledge that came from gamefaqs tips on how to play the game well and as side knowledge found while researching levels. Also got to contend your use of the word "exploits" again. They are simply advanced playing techniques.

Wow, this thread certainly took a turn for the worse.

As for the only being able to pickup one box of pipebombs and one tripmine, this is vanilla behaviour and does happen in the DOS Multiplayer Coop of Duke 3D.

The Atomic Health not carrying over is also the same in the original game.
