Yeah, I feel old too sometimes. Remember reading and posting cool stuff on Usenet? NCSA Mosaic? CompuServe? Geting that sweet new Pentium 133? Or playing DN3D on TEN...

My big PC buy was a cyrix 686 that ran so hot i kept the case off. FAST! CAVERNOUS 2GB HDD! I had friends still on their 486's with 512 MB Hdds. 8MB ram! Most had 4! Lol I grew up with an Atari 800xl handmedown with a cassette drive. Had that thing until 87.

As far as TEN, I was a kali guy. Played on case's ladder in warcraft 2 for awhile.

Nice. I started with a TI-99/4A and a C64. Never had an Atari back then, was totally devoted to Amiga until 1990.

I got a c-64 as a game machine in 93. Kid traded me it with every periph under the sun and over 100 games for 2 bb guns. Seriously. a break action single shot co2 and a 10 pump rifle. and a taget and bunch of bbs. He had a nice PC the c64 was in the attic by then.
I started with an AST Advantage back in the late 90's/early 2000's. . 8 MB RAM, 540 GB HD. Duke Nukem 3D was the first game I ever got for it. Great times!

Yeah, when I first played the demo was when I still bought PC Gammer asa magizine. It came with a demo CD.

I was playing Duke 3D before I even had internet access on my ♥♥♥♥♥in' MMX pentium!

Before that system all i had was 8086,8088, and 80286 IBM systems. Before that it was just Commodore 64.

I just scored this at the summer sale along with Shadow Warrior re-Dux! Best part is that I did not have to spend any money on it. I sold off a bunch of the trading cards i had in my inventory.

Best 2.50$ I have spent at the steam sale yet. I have been playing all morning!
Found all kinds of secrates I missed years ago.

now all I need is the first DOOM games and I will be happy. I have $0.50 in my steam wallet. I think I will try selling more trading cards till i get it!

I remember running a null serial cable out my bedroom window and into my brothers room so we could play two player games.

Nice! I used to modem dial my friend to play doom 2. Mid game my mom's voice would come over the modem. I'd get a metallic "I neeeed THE phone!!! Then booted. Buddy still had a 28800 modem. Talk about lag!

I was thrilled when I found out this game was on Steam, bought it immediately without considering that my family would want to play it too, as we were all raised with this game. My father managed to somehow censor the whole game, mind blowing, right? Back then my sisters and I got all "Oooooh" when Nick from the Backstreet Boys sang "am I sexual" in Back Street's Back (Alright!), though we played it prior to that coming out. This is the game that made my siblings and I gamers. Brother beat the game at the age of 6.

Back then we played lan co-op, Green Pants Duke, Red Pants Duke, Blue Pants Duke... I was really hoping they'd set that up for this...the tall, bony aliens still make me scream. 'Dem eyes..

but is that K5 @133MHz or AM5x86-P75 @ 133MHz?

Both run Duke great, though the latter would really need the aggressively tiny wait states to compensate and should be the writeback variant

Having owned both i486DX4-100 and AM5x86-P75 processors in '96 i'm really split between the two due to L1 cache and clockrate reasons (the AMD can safely hit 160mhz, and in some ADZ models, 180/200MHz). They both perform roughly the same in Quake, though the AMD is great in Win95 :D:D:D:DD::D:D:DD:dD:D:D:
